Re: Backing track problems
In clip view, click the little round 'L' in the bottom left corner to open LAUNCH. Here, you can make sure that legato is off, as yur2die4 pointed out. You can then set the midi click track's FOLLOW ACTION to STOP after however many bars you need it to. More info in the manual 8) http://dicksavage.c...

... or just copy(ctrl+c) and paste(ctrl+v) the audio from arrangement view into a clip slot in session view.
And you can copy and paste more than one audio recording at a time.

Re: Switching instruments playing live
Have you tried ClyphX?
It can be used to control devices, routing, almost anything in Live. I couldn't live without it in a live band situation, where I'm limited to what I can do on the fly...

Re: Clip automation on a blank audio clip
You could try using dummy clips (Tom Cosm's got a good tutorial on it)
or ClyphX.
Both methods allow you to control pretty much all parameters automatically without the need for automation on the actual clips or tracks you want to control.

Re: technical problem
I've been using my APC20 and Oxygen8v2 through a USB hub for a couple of months now, mainly as a road test (old laptop, not many USB slots, etc.) and I haven't experienced any problems yet.
It is a *powered* USB hub, though!!!

Re: midi velocity/panning question
Not too sure about question number one off the top of my head, but for your second question it sounds like you're experiencing crosstalk. I have the same problem. We discussed it here: https://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=180540 Short answer... get a better soundcard/audio interface :(

Re: Ableton CPU Overloading - How to use with crappy PC?
Also, don't forget that saving many different versions of one set takes up almost no space at all, so when you're happy with a MIDI track - save that version of the set then freeze and flatten the MIDI track to get perfect audio

Re: Ableton CPU Overloading - How to use with crappy PC?
I use Live on a crappy old laptop and there are ways to help the CPU load. First of all, check out Tarekith's guide to optimizing a PC . Some good tips there. As for sets, I try to use native devices as much as possible and keep effects on return channels. ClyphX is also a great way to control every...

Re: Right and left channels bleeding into each other... HELP!!
Thanks to all of you for your help and advice. Looks to me like you've hit the nail on the head with crosstalk. I've been going through different scenarios, different sets, different routing, various EQ and utility set-ups (thanks H2Only for the idea) - everything I can think of - and it only seems ...

Re: Right and left channels bleeding into each other... HELP!!
:? weird. not sure i completely understand how that would even be recorded (unless you're using a mic)... regardless, what about making your own click by setting up a dummy MIDI track that has a "click" sample of some sort on it to keep time with? edit: i'm leaving my previous post... BUT...
