Re: Post your set up and your sexy cat...

Ha. I'm just intimidated by all the uber-studios. Give me 10 years or so and I'll post mine.

Re: Post your set up and your sexy cat...

Maybe it's time to move this discussion, and this is a bit over my head, but why couldn't you just load the clean samples and add the effects in ableton later?

Aha. The Solo/610, then, maybe? 1 xlr and 1 DI.
(No, I don't work for UA:)

Re: Tube Preamps

I just got UAD's Twinfinity, which is popular and gives you the option between solid state and tube. Haven't used it enough to have an opinion yet. How many inputs/outputs do you need?

Atoms for Peace and Flying Lotus

Anyone else see the show in Boston last night? It was great - the last two songs especially took advantage of Flea + the two percussionists. Flying Lotus was great too, and I think he was using an apc40.

Steve Lehman Video

Not the most in depth video but fun to see Steve Lehman at work. I wish he'd talked a bit more about production techniques. Does anyone know what the image on his screen is at the end - it's a bunch of red horizontal lines. Is that a music program he's using? Max/MSP?

Re: Which T-RACKS compressor would you reccomend getting first?

I use the 670 for vocals and like it a lot. But if it's on 2 or more tracks Live gets sloooow.

Re: unaswered question.

To hijack slightly - is this true on the input side as well? I mean, if I get a nice pre-amp (thinking about an avalon or voicemaster), will running the line signal or mic signal from the pramp into my cheap Ozonic ruin whatever benefits the preamp has? How do people use preamps that don't have fire...

Re: learning about mixing while mastering

Subfunk, I'm curious what you mean by muddy. To me there aren't enought elements in the song to make it muddy. I mean, how many sounds are there? 4? Kick, Hat, low bleep fx/watery stuff, and high bleep fx? Do you mean the low bassy watery sound is muddy? What would you do to clean it up?
