Just a cheap (<$900) little laptop from Best Buy. Note that Machinate is running in that range on his laptop as well. Yours seems to be in the same range, no? It's the Mac guys that seem to be seeing super high CPU utilization. Ugh! When are the Abe's going to streamline their coding for Mac's!????!?

Funny...I just PM'd Machinate about this very thing, and then I saw this thread. I too experience VERY high CPU hits when playing his .als file; average of 60% and as high as 72% at times on Live's CPU meter!!! 8O I'm running it on a G4 iBook 1.33 w/ 786 mb's of RAM; I thought that would be plenty p...

I can't say much about the Audiophile, but I've been using the M-Audio 410 for about 8 months now and it's been absolutely flawless. I know the older drivers had issues, but luckily M-Audio released new drivers for OSX right after I bought it, so I didn't go through any bad driver issues. I've used ...

I've been using an M-audio 410 for about 9 months now; both at home and in clubs. I really have been impressed with the ease of use and quality of sound. I use it in conjunction with Traktor Dj right now, so i can't speak for how well it works with Live (just barely bought my copy!). Another reason ...

Live & M-audio 410 on Mac?
Anyone out there using the M-audio firwire 410 w/ Live 4 on a Mac? How are your results?
What about the same combo on Live 5? Any of you beta testers out there using this combo? If so, what is your experience?

Ableton Live 5 is capable of being a spectacular DAW. but remember, its not like other DAWs and it never will be. Cubase, Logic, DP, ProTools all have huge similarities between them. Live fits into a niche that the other products gloss over, and its all about immediacy. Session View = Workflow = Re...

Re: logic exxpress
I'm confused here. Simpler comes with Live. It's Operator that runs $129. Did you mean to put Operator there and not Simpler?Machinesworking wrote:Simpler is not in any way comparable to to the EXS, and the FX are much better as well. You pay $129 plus $399 for Operator compared to $299 for the synths in Logic.

For instance in some respects Logic Express with FM7 is a better choice than Live 5 with Operator, but you won't be hearing many people here say that beyond me. I think if you have a fast computer, and work well with a few soft synths, then Live is a better choice. I do for the most part, maybe 4-7...
