How do I mix in mono using headphones?
I feel like this is a stupid question, but I'm not figuring it out. I use an M Box 2 Pro for my headphone output. I could switch to my computer speakers headphone output if that would let me do it, though I feel like that might downgrade the sound quality. I tried deactivating the sound output for 1...

Most comfortable studio headphones
Hey everyone, I searched and there were a quite a few threads on studio headphones, but there wasn't one specifically about the most comfortable pairs. I mix for roughly about 8 hours on end, and 90% of my work has to be done through phones because I live with people. My ears get uncomfortable very ...

Re: Can the M-audio keystudio midi keyboard work with ableton?
Weird.
The M-Audio website still says it comes with Ableton Lite.

Have you been successfully able to install any other controllers and use them with Ableton? Are you certain you know how?

I believe a new keystudio comes with ableton lite, so it should. Does your computer have the drivers for the keyboard?

Re: voice over editing
That's one problem I've had with microphone recording. I don't know how to get more volume out of the track without getting some distortion. Is there an easy way to do this? My volume is up all the way on the track. If I slide the compressor up anymore, the track distorts pretty badly. Interesting.....

voice over editing
I've been practicing voice over editing this week to try to get the cleanest method of recording and editing I can get. I need some fresh ears to listen to these short samples and let me know if I'm messing anything up that I could fix. voice over tracks The first track is the audio without editing....

Re: Ableton Guitarists
I record acoustic guitar using ableton a lot, though lately I've turned more digital. I prefer a nice mix between the two. Here's some sameples: http://malachiconstant.bandcamp.com/track/walking-in-sunlight http://malachiconstant.bandcamp.com/track/requiem-for-those-who-have-chosen-darkness http://m...

Re: Setup for recording
Thanks for the help. What I wasn't understanding before is that what creates the stereo width effect is the difference between the two sides. That wasn't explained in the mid/side tutorials I did. Thanks again. That makes me reconceptualize the idea completely.

Re: Pitch Bend range of a drum rack
Can you just set the transpose to the macro for the drum rack? You would have to go through each instrument to set it, but then you would be able to change on the fly while playing live. +/- 48 st I believe is the limit with that method.

Re: Setup for recording
Well, I have been selecting only the source of the audio. What I have thought the problem is, is that ableton has been viewing the audio track as mono. When I ONLY use the utility and set the width to 200%, it silences the track. The width acts as a volume bar, where it gets louder the closer to 0% ...

Setup for recording
How do you suggest I setup for recording acoustic instruments? My gear: Ableton Live 8.0.5 M Box 2 Pro (firewire connection) Rode NT1-A Condenser Microphone. I just recently decided to delve into the field of making my recordings sound more professional. I just found out about Mid/Side, and Equalizi...
