I'd like to vote for Omnisphere and Trillian too, that would be amazing to have from Push

Re: iPhone control of Live macros

Good call. I tried this and it works like a charm. Picks up whichever device is currently selected and eight faders fits nicely on the phone screen. With CoreMIDI there's no need for a server app on the Mac and it took only a couple of minutes to do the remote script. As an added bonus I made myself...

iPhone control of Live macros

Hi, Can anyone recommend me an iPhone app that will allow control of the macros for the currently selected track in Live? It doesn't need to be super sophisticated but it does need to follow track selection or allow easy switching of the currently effected track. I just need something that will part...

Re: Logic Pro X

One slight annoyance that I've noticed when using Logic Pro X on an 11" MacBook Air is that the header above the plugin windows is so large that things like Omnisphere and Trilian spill off the bottom of the screen slightly and if you try to go into full screen mode on Logic to combat this then the ...

Re: Logic Pro X

So are Drummer's MIDI files mapped per GM? Being able to drop them onto Battery 4 kits or Urban Cookbook in B4 would be very nice indeed.

Re: Hardware synths vs sofware synhs

Hardware user interfaces are great on something like a Juno 6 where there is a control for every function but, having owned a Virus for a while, I would say that when they are overloaded they become a lot less spontaneous. I sold off a load of hardware and don't miss any of it. I'm also not entirely...

Re: Deciding on a Plugin

From your list: NI Komplete Probably covers the most ground, has a nice sounding selection of synths, some of which are very CPU efficient. There is something in there to cover all of the styles you mention. Includes several thousand presets. Sylenth1 Excellent bread and butter sounds, will work wel...

Re: CPU Issues with OSX and Live 9

I wonder if it's related to speed stepping.... Is it worth trying Coolbook or QuietMBP to try and bump the CPU speed up and stop it fluctuating?

I did a small article on QuietMBP on my blog at http://www.abletonbenchmarks.com

Re: 32 core opteron a good choice for ableton?

If you're running heavyweight multi plugins like Omnisphere in multi mode then you will definitely get better results from having faster cores as the whole multi instance has to be rendered on one core. I've not shopped for CPUs for a while but I wonder whether you might be better off with a pair of...

Bass sound from Open Eye Signal by John Hopkins

Wondering how to get close to this sound with plugins, sounds like some sawtooth with a sub oscillator plus LFO controlling the filters but there is a lot of movement to the sound so would appreciate other people's perspective on how to get close. Not sure which plug to go for to reproduce it but I'...

Re: Massive vs FM8 vs Zebra 2?

I really wanted to like Zebra but I always feel it sounds a little sterile to my ear... I'll give it another try maybe. The Ableton synths are good but I find that similar offerings from third parties sound better and are often lighter on CPU e.g. DUNE and Sylenth sound better than Analog and are ge...
