inch meet mile.
I didn't "inextricably link" making records with making good music, nor did my posts contain "whole attitudes" about anything.
take care now : )

Re: On Value (or: you're valuable, your record is worthless)
Obviously people want the products they want… and so do I. At the end of the day, it has to be about the music first, not what I think other people want. Value. Remember? There’s no pressure or onus on me to provide consumers with choice. Technology does all that work for me! Like I said in my post ...

Re: On Value (or: you're valuable, your record is worthless)
I definitely think there will continue to be a market for records (digital and physical) in the coming years. If you’re good—which is, of course, subjective—I think how your work is valued by the many or precious few who find it is at least partially affected by a lot of the choices you make. Oftent...

Re: Question about recorded samples
Thanks, luddy! I'll do that from now on.
This should also make it easier for me to transfer the audio in sets from one computer to another.

Question about recorded samples
I’m still fairly new to Ableton so I don’t have a ton of sets and projects yet, but I probably spent about an hour yesterday deleting a couple gigabytes worth of wave files from the library > samples > recorded folder (horrible vocal takes and so on from sets I’d already ditched and deleted). And ev...

Can you really not see how it's possible to produce a solid song with 10 tracks or less?ilya.soloviev wrote:Damn man! Tell me how you success in writing music in 10 tracks? I found myself about 70-80 is not enough!
*shrugs* Different strokes. 80 tracks for one song would send me to the nuthouse.

9 Puremagnetik Micropaks for $8.99 this week
Just thought this was worth passing along... Until October 30th, get all of Puremagnetik's glitch, toy and 8-bit Micropaks for only $8.99 (normally a $108 value). This offer includes 9 Micropaks and over 1 Gigabyte of samples from toys, vintage video game chips, circuit bent devices and more! http:/...

Re: What are some of the "must have" plugins for producing?
Waves. Some of their plugins look pretty great, but I've decided I won't be purchasing anything that requires an ilok. I understand the need to try to protect products from piracy, but I shouldn't have to spend $50 just to use something I've already paid for.. something that could easily break or g...

Re: Mixing on Headphones
Agreed about mixing at high volumes. In addition to the obvious, I think my ears get fatigued quicker because I'm listening to the music in a different way. It's more technical. I'm new to the whole home recording arena--switching artist, producer, and engineer hats is tough--so I'm still getting my...

Re: Label info/sales stats (considering labels to send demo to)
I'd just focus on making good music and -if you're looking to get signed- hoping that the right label will be interested in YOU. They've already got plenty of artists interested in them. There is very little job security in the entertainment industry, and there is no guarantee your album will sell (...

Re: How to get really good at Music/Art
Fantastic article! Practice without talent won't ever lead to greatness. Sad but true. Imagine yourself loving to play let's say football, you play the whole day, you practise etc, but without the needed talent to kick a ball you will never make it to the Premier League. I have never known someone g...

Re: good vst instruments for Orchestra and classic grand piano
Yeah, I like Ableton's Grand Piano.. I just haven't played it much yet.
The main reason I chose the box version of Live was because I wanted EIC2...and the main reason I wanted EIC2 was because of the grand piano demo.
