Controlling Touch-Able with max 4 live

Hi I am wanting to automate the moving of touch-Able's red ring to a specific grid reference in order to skip to songs at the touch of a button. I used to do this with my APC40 by using a max for live patch. I can't however see the touchable surface in the api call to control_surfaces. Any ideas why?

Re: Send Looper status to controller

yes you have to pass it the ID of the state parameter which you can get from a live.path.

Re: maxforlive parameters in novation controller lcd`s?

you mean inside a patch rather than right click lock?

I don't believe it is possible with the Novation remote script. There is however a 3rd party control surface script that allows this.

Re: Send Looper status to controller

There is a 4 state parameter that you can observe on the looper. I can't remember it's index right now to get a path to it as I'm at work.

On the subject of looper control, It's a real shame you can't map to the record or reset button in the looper. I'm having to use a midi loop back hack!

Re: Mac OSX/Ableton GUI Query

I would say it's probably illegal unless the content owner has given consent. Not 100% sure though to be honest.

This firefox extension is pretty good

Re: Mac OSX/Ableton GUI Query

I think you'd have to investigate playback conrol without having to give the video browser focus. I'm thinking a midi controllable video player. If you can download the video it will open up more options. Most VJ apps are midi controllable.

Re: Mac OSX/Ableton GUI Query

The option I mentioned should at least stop you having to reclick the spanner.

Is the video in a browser or something like quicktime?

Re: Mac OSX/Ableton GUI Query

As far as I know mac windows should stay un-minimized when you click off them, unless you click the orange minus button. Something that may help you is in Live's options look/feel/plugin windows, make sure auto hide plugin windows is off. That way you shouldn't have to keep clicking the spanner to r...

Re: Concerning High-Quality mode

Would this be the same for things like HQ mode in EQ8, reverb, flange & saturator? Would I have to select them in order for the render to be higher quality?

Finally does the buffer size in the audio tab effect the render process?

Re: detect current device's on/off state

Yeah thanks pid, I've used live.thisdevice in the past to get bangs when the API is ready, I think I was being dumb and getting my thispatcher mixed up with thisdevice when looking for such a feature. Also Broc that patch will come in handy!

Re: detect current device's on/off state

Cheers for that, this should help me.

Anyway of getting a path to the current device, ie not the currently selected device but actual the M4L patch with the code in. I guess I need it to observe itself.

detect current device's on/off state

Is it possible to observe if the current device is on or off? I have a utility patch that seems to do it's thing regardless of whether it is turned on or off. Incidentally It is not interacting with audio or midi.

I thought there might be something in 'thispatcher' but can't seem to see anything.

Re: Novation SL Mkii - useless knobs? Python script?

I also own an SL remote 2 and have used this brilliant script.

I'm sure it would make a great starting point for you to extend it to cover the lower 8 nobs.
