Leopard upgrade... snow .. lion or stay the same?
A friend has recently upgraded his Macbook pro to Snow Leopard and is saying the speed improvements are amazing and is really advocating I do the same. I can't say I have any issues currently but I'm obviously always tempted by more speed. Would you say it's worth the hassle? Is there any risk I mig...

Re: Touchosc over USB?
I didn't know much about the UI designer, thanks for posting it, I assume this requires the line6 gadget. What I really hope they add to that UI designer is a session view grid (with clip names) that works over midi and therefore a wired setup. I guess that is very live specific for something that i...

Re: Touchosc over USB?
Ah ok yeah I see what you mean. I bet someone out there has managed to get IP/UDP over the USB cable on a jailbroken device, something like this.

Re: Touchosc over USB?
I think I'm getting a bit mixed up actually. I've thinking of this
http://liine.net/livecontrol/
which is sort of an extra layer that uses touchOSC, TouchOSC on it's own doesn't have the session view with clip names? I'm pretty sure this wouldn't work with a wired midi approach.

Re: Touchosc over USB?
If you you use the MIDI adaptor method, can you still use the launch grid that has the names of clips? I guess it could do it with sysex.

Re: ClyphX – Utility script for Live 8 (and Live 7 too)
Many thanks that works. you know I did wonder how you managed to get a rack to generate midi down a channel, all makes sense now. I've just spotted it in the manual, sorry don't know how I overlooked that. I have another question. Am I right in saying the 'out' track action will not work for group a...

Re: ClyphX – Utility script for Live 8 (and Live 7 too)
Hi I've having trouble getting nK Midi to work in 2.0.2 I am trying to use the example set. I've added an external instrument into the "nK MIDI - Subtractor" rack. Should I expect to see yellow lights light up in the external instrument channel indicator? I've tried using midi monitor to m...

Re: Converting stereo tracks to mono
Is there a way of mimicking what utility set to mono does in a wave editor such as cool edit? Having learnt the value of making stuff mono, I now want to batch convert a bunch of loops. I'm thinking it would be better to do it at the file level as it means one less device I have to navigate past on ...

Re: Vocoder as a routing utility.
Great thanks! I'll use the sidechain compression trick instead. Yeah it would sure be useful to have these tools 'out of the box' maybe as an extension to the utility device, and a midi version too perhaps.

Vocoder as a routing utility.
Thought I'd share this idea I've put to use today. I've used the Vocoder to receive audio from other channels via the external carrier and making it as unaffected as possible (which is OK for my application) by the host track's audio. Why might you ask would I do this with all the usual track routin...

Re: Midi Network Setup on Mac OS X Snow Leopard
I'm getting random beach balling too in this setup screen. I can connect my Leopard to a Snow leopard, but when I try and connect to my friends leopard we both get bad beachballs. Seems there's something about my friends Leopard. Currently investigating other options.

Re: enumerating chains in javascript
Thanks for that, As I'm dealing with some deep nested chains I've tried to avoid paths and just stick to ID's using the following for (var chainID in x.get("chains").asAPIObjects() ){ var chain = new LiveAPI("id " + chainID); } Array.prototype.asAPIObjects=function(){ var output ...

enumerating chains in javascript
I'm trying to do a for loop in javascript through every chain in an instrument rack using this: x = new LiveAPI("id " + rID); for (var chain in x.get("chains")) { } This isn't working because x.get("chains") returns "id 12 id 27 id 42" So must I do some string...
