Custom Skins
Would be great if we could customize the skins and colors more. I know there's a third party app out there; tried it, it's not up to date nor is it comprehensive. I guess there's also one for Max, but I don't have Max. As is the skin options are okay and do the job I guess, but I find colorization t...

Re: Suggestion: New Pricing Structure
:?: But you've just described their existing strategy. What you call core is pretty much what they call their standard edition, probably without some of the sample packs. (Other than the sample packs, there is not much that you can take away from Live Standard without pretty much crippling it) Buil...

Suggestion: New Pricing Structure
I have yet to buy Ableton Live, and probably the biggest thing holding me back now is the way it's priced. The Intro version is too stripped down for my taste, and the Standard version has too many things I know I wouldn't use. Instead of griping about this too much, let me offer this suggestion: St...

Re: Mac Mini advice?
A few other things about SSDs: 1. They kick ass in my opinion. If they are out of your current budget, keep them in mind for a future time. 2. They are not so easy to install in the Mac mini; not hard, but not easy either. There are how to videos out there that you can check out for details. 3. You ...

Re: Mac Mini advice?
I recommend getting the fastest processor you can afford, and not worrying too much about RAM at the moment. RAM you can always upgrade if needed, and it's really easy to install on the Mac mini, while a processor you cannot. On my previous desktop I made the mistake of getting one with a low end pr...

Re: Someone please sell me on the Standard edition
Thanks for the replies. I'm starting to warm up to some of the stuff Standard has to offer, beyond just the tracks and scenes, and the 20% off Holiday Sale is making the Suite edition all that much more attractive. I mean, it's only $150 more than the regular price of Standard. I still got plenty of...

Re: Someone please sell me on the Standard edition
But if you go with Intro check the Launchpad! I think it is sold with Intro and you pay almost the same but get the Launchpad for free! Thanks for that, an intriguing idea, not sure I want to get hardware though. was hoping someone could point out something I might be missing. OK, how about this? S...

Re: Someone please sell me on the Standard edition
well, have fun and good luck with what ever you ultimately decide... but before moving on i will leave you with one final thought... what's in a name? what's in a name like Intro? i'd say that marketing is alive, well and working... Ableton's intention was never to give you their software. I suppos...

Re: Someone please sell me on the Standard edition
Ableton Live has a fully functioning demo... why not try that to see if you like the (added) benefits before deciding to throw down your hard earned loot. I'm in the process of trying it out right now, but am just not seeing much reason as of yet to get anything beyond Intro (well, except fo...

Re: Someone please sell me on the Standard edition
Isn't Live intro limited to a certain amount of Vst's And Vsti's? Its pain in the ass to find this info (or any info) on the bloated Ableton site so I dont bother. Edit: I found the info on the Ableton site, It looks like there is no effect limit so I would say stick with intro If you need to be so...

Re: Someone please sell me on the Standard edition
I personally could not live with the limitations in tracks, scenes, and ALSO Sends/Returns... I'm not even sure who they're trying to appeal to with Intro, some old geezer looking to upgrade his analog 4 track? Actually I shouldn't dis analog 4 track, but my point is with a powerhouse like Ableton ...

Re: Someone please sell me on the Standard edition
...I think it's okay to be hesitant on taking the plunge. I have no doubt that you'll find a way to afford it haha. And you'll be a happy camper for years to come... I probably will just eventually take the plunge. I just want to feel okay about it. Considering how much I'm liking the demo, I'm gue...

Someone please sell me on the Standard edition
I've been dinking around with the demo and am absolutely sold on Ableton Live. Thing is when I look at the feature comparison I'm having a hard time convincing myself that the Standard edition is the way to go. I don't really care about the packs that come with the Standard edition, I don't have ext...

Re: Live 9.1 any news
How about an approximation? 9.1 Beta was announced what? Middle of September? My guess would be in the next month or two. But uh... Yeah, I really have no idea. I'm getting anxious though. I'm sitting here with the demo, which is 9.0.6, running in Mavericks and was all set to buy until I s...
