Re: sampled sounds not fitting in my overall mix
Stuff sampled from vinyl is usually loaded down with tons of hidden 20-30Hz. The sounds wont fit in mix any better than a big fat lady into little dress. Cut eq. Bring up a meter while holding the record in place with the platter turning, you'll see all kinds of funky 20-30-40Hz anomalies going on. ...

Sort of off topic, but does anybody else feel with the greatly increased power of the UAD2 cards that they should work on some original plugs as well instead of just emulations? No imo, thats kind of the point. People that have worked with units like the 1176 which is actually a UA bill putnam hard...

Also, go on the UAD forum and look around all the time, there's always someone finding a new trick that really works. Just recently we all figured out that the 1176SE sounds a lot better on electronic 909-808 type kicks and subs than standard more power hungry 1176. http://www.chrismilne.com/uadforu...

Re: Compressor plug in recommendations
Hey all, looking to get some feedback on what compressors people like, given that i have some rather specific requirements. So many out there that I'm sure I'm missing some, so it's always good to poll the masses. Anyway, here's my requirements for the compressor: - Must be native to OSX, either VS...

I'm on a laptop, not in my studio so I can't listen to it properly. priceless. But since your such a seasoned vet, why not instead of just tearing down Nebulaes mix down, be helpful and tell him the exact steps he needs to take to get it to sound pro to your ears? its not the mixdown, its more the ...

guess jesus won´t help you here. i mean if you don´t hear that this, compared to a sound coming from say depeche mode or even some of the better cracker team release demo sounds, is nothing but awful, what do you hear then? have you ever listened to music before you started recording your own? I'm ...

You said digital could never have an analog sound through outboard. Now your admitting that you were wrong absolutely not. learn to fuckin read. god....... explained again for a 8 years old: i admitted that the digital sound will alter through analog rework while still sounding digital. at least in...

i would say, it depends on how close your ear and mind can dial into sound, how far your understanding and devotion to sound goes. You said digital could never have an analog sound through outboard. Now your admitting that you were wrong but this can only be attained through ears, understanding and...

So if one runs a vsti out into an moog filter then into a good pre and record back into computer your once again saying that it will still sound as cold and digital? That the digital signal will be hiding underneath the analog sound characteristic of the analog outboard? So what? The sound has been...
