Re: Looking to start Djing with live.
well, you're on the right track. a basic example would be to run 2 audio tracks out of ableton (choose EXT in the i/o box) through separate outputs on your interface, and run each of those to the respective inputs on your mixer. this will allow you to play w/your mixer's eq's and x-fader as if you h...

Re: Looper for midi
I feel like you could get by with blank MIDI clips and Overdub. But maybe.

Re: How do YOU set your tempo?
for recording purposes, send a click track to your musician. for live playback, listen to the click track yourself. you should have a rough idea of what the tempo of the track is, so start there, and use the time you have before launching your first clip to use the nudge buttons for precision.

Re: Looking to start Djing with live.
You are only limited by the number of outs on the interface and the number of ins on the mixer, so double check the specs, but yes that is doable.

From the clip view, you can manually enter the clip length (replace the 4 with and then copy and paste, or duplicate, the first half. Might only work w/MIDI clips in session view though, I'm not sure if you can copy and pasted audio in session.

Re: Launchpad and external MIDI sync: WTF
That might help, but from my experience, the slow-down you mentioned is just a reality we have to live with right now w/ableton. Any time Live has to "think" (aka dragging/dropping samples, changing through presets, etc.) there is a noticeable strain on any MIDI sync. I wouldn't have guess...

Re: Snow Leopard: Who has upgraded, how did it go - recommended?
I've been running SL since a month after it came out. Mac Pro and more recently on an early 09 MBP. Definitely a noticed improvement overall. Not necessarily with Live, but I certainly haven't noticed any problems, and I'd say its at least as stable as Leopard. I use a fair amount of plugins, rewire...

Where to find NI Massive installer file?
I can't locate an installer file for Massive to put it on my new laptop. Do I download the demo and activate? Thanks in advance.

Re: Remixing - Stretching tracks together....
Yea I see what you mean. You could try. I wouldn't trust Live to determine the start and end points of each clip accurately enough to do that with much confidence. It might be easier in the long run to warp them manually.

Anyone have any tips for uninstalling all traces of M4L? This might be a dumb question. Thanks in advance.

Re: Remixing - Stretching tracks together....
Take all your stems for one track and warp them at the original tempo. Then you can drop them in at any tempo you want and they will play in sync. That will be much easier than warping all the clips after you've changed the tempo by 20bpm
