I think this pretty much says it all.

All it says is that the responses to this guy's query have been really over-the-top and I would be asking the same question if I were him.

The music I DJ is essentiallly disposable... some tracks are classic, but on the whole these tracks get played for no more than about 6-12 months before being replaced by new music. Which raises a whole other issue. Personally that use-once-and-discard "disposability" of a lot of dance mu...

By listen to 2 tracks at the same time, do you mean have a cue mix? If so, then perhaps you could use the 2496's spdif outs as the device for your cue mix, and if you can't listen to those, route their outputs to the analogue outs internally via the delta monitor mixer control panel, panned hard rig...

dunno if this will work, though this is based on my experience from a couple of years ago. i converted some waves to .apes and archived them to cd, and when they were converted back, the old .asds didn't work. perhaps things have changed, which would be cool since this is an excellent idea. perhaps...

Isn't it great how the forum works itself into a mad frenzy when an update comes along. It's the old saying "opinions are like assholes, all (well, most ?) people have one". And some like showing them off in public more than others. But that's what forii are all about right? (what's ...

Any Project5 users care to comment on its midi abilities, eg. how does it differ from Sonar? Judging by that screenshot, the interface looks tidy but i've not tried it.

Melb is a strong possibility for me at some stage this year too. Much as I like NZ, i'm in need of a change of scenery. Just a matter of taking the plunge and being prepared to pay more for living costs in return for more work availability.

Event make some great monitors at reasonable prices, accurate and non-fatiguing. The 20/20s and the Studio Precisions at least, not sure about their "Tuned Reference" range. Not as bright as Genelecs, which may be a good thing or a bad thing (this can be tweaked anyway). Genelecs are unden...

With MidiOX for Windows (not sure about mac, but Plogue Bidule may do), you could definitely make this thing do what you want. i went ahead and made a .jpg of the midi implementation chart for those who dont want to download the 4.5MB .pdf manual. here ...

I always try to read every manual from cover to cover but I still haven't got round to doing that with Live's manual yet, i consulted it more as a reference book. Problem is, with a software manual like that, it kinda helps to have your computer handy, and i prefer to read 'elsewhere'.

Yeah, generally speaking I'm pretty impressed with it. The universe, that is. Things seem to remember where they're meant to be quite well, just the occasional glitch, but it's a pretty reliable interface really. :)
