Re: HELP!!! Amp selector Ableton Distortion.

Hmm. I don't know, sorry. Maybe ask the place you bought it. That's too bad, probably really frustrating.

Re: Audio Technica 4040

Future Music recommends Nuemann Retro, Karma K58 (tube) and AKG C214. I've used the Retro and it's killer. I've heard good things about Blue mics and the Rode NT2. Check Sound On Sound too for ideas and ask people you know, call local studio owners, even sales guys at Sweetwater. You'll get opinions...

Re: Audio Technica 4040

Don't rush into it. AT 4040 sounds like cardboard, IMO. What are you planning to record? If electric guitar just get a Shure SM57, only a ribbon mic like a Royer is better, and people still use them together. For vocals that's tough, depends on the voice. Neuman TLM 103 is great though, I use it on ...

Re: Why few special offers for loyal customers?

Everybody likes a good deal, I'm with you on that, but when this kid starts talkin about too expensive.... Man, my decks and mixer alone cost me $1600 not including the coffin. And with the price I've paid for my hardware studio, I could have bought a cheap car. I know this is not hardware vs softw...

Re: Why few special offers for loyal customers?

Of all the things I feel cheated by, Live is the least of them. Value for money. My health insurance went up 15% this year! I got Live 7 Suite which had drum racks, good piano, electric piano, synth, 808, 909, , 606, and CR78 sounds, a killer grain delay and beat repeat. Sequences, records and arran...

Re: bitwig - anyone know the ins and outs

Why does someone leave a good job to start their own business? To make more money. To run the show. Take on a new challenge. Realize a dream. I find it hard to believe Ableton are jerks to work for. People leave software houses to start their own all the time. That's how it works. Good luck to them....

Following
1st movie from Christopher Nolan
Not sure who the artist is but it's the same person who did Irreversible
btw The Dark Knight has great sound design. The skyscraper scene where he grabs the guy in China in particular.

Nice. Good sense of implied melody. Smooth workflow, that must be fun. Really cool.

Re: Looking to expand effects, any suggestions?

Fabfilter Timeless 2. It's amazing. Modulation for days. Their Volcano 2 is great also. Try the demos. Live reverb is awful, strangely i feel like auto filter is mediocre but Sampler's filter works nicely. Everything else rules. Check freeware sites like vstcafe. There's a lot of cool freeware aroun...

Re: strategies for a live set

+1 on the computer upgrade, +1 freeze and flatten to audio However, don't forget external effects. Buy a Memory Man, man! Sherman Filter, Frostwave, even a pawn shop reverb pedal, whatever works. Some people still don't think so but knob twisting is playing an instrument (especially analog). There's...
