Re: Live 9 Beta Testers - What new features are you seeing?

All opinion is equally valid. The truth lies somewhere in the middle. Personally, I doubt that there are any more features hidden away, known only to the beta testers. Perhaps a few minor adjustments (which may still, of course, be interesting - some of which have already been revealed in this threa...

Re: I already own Live 8 Suite to get 9 I have to RE-purchase

Wait till Live 9 is actually released, there'll be a discount for you, will be much less. Relax, we're all in the same boat. Unless you have access to information that I don't, we do not know that it will be 'much' less - only that there will be a discount for Suite owners. As yet, nothing has been...

Re: Modulation wheel with a MIDI keyboard without mod wheel

I also use an Akai LPK25. Your best bet is to use some device that can send configurable MIDI CC messages. I ended up cutting the pads off a Korg Nanopad and using its XY touch pad next to my LPK25 for pitch and mod.

Re: Live 9 Pricing

Does that mean I would not be able to uninstall Suite 8 after installing Live 9? Of course you would. You'd install 9 and when you activated it, you would be licensed to use those components which you bought with Suite 8. There's no problem. If you don't want M4L, just get the standard upgrade. Ess...

You can upgrade to Live 9 Standard and retain your current Suite 8 components.

Re: Live 9 Pricing

Same here for all of my version for FL Studio. I'm not saying all upgrades should be free. I do find it hard to believe that Ableton made that big of a mistake. I don't consider that attitude of those upset as an entitlement but a major disappointment. How do you make an error of $194 and correct i...

Re: Live 9 Pricing

Bottom line is that we're getting a new version of Live, that you can upgrade for a reasonable amount (IMO) and that we should be glad about it instead of whining about a few bucks most of us probably won't even feel. I guess my point is that the imminent release of Live 9 is a joyful event, and th...

Re: Live's new audio to midi feature.

Wow, if you can copyright a chord, then we're all in serious trouble!  Seriously, people get too hung up about copyright issues. The idea that someone can own a combination of frequencies in sequence is a bit ridiculous when you think about it. Notes and chords are notes and chords. ...

Re: Live's new audio to midi feature.

Judging from that video, it seems that those slight pitch-bends in the flute loop are interpreted as separate notes. I imagine that this is because the audio-to-MIDI function utilises transient detection, so it probably bases its pitch detection upon each transient. Hmm, but that would work pretty ...

Re: Live's new audio to midi feature.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhd2eFNM8vU In this video, you can see more of the audio-to-MIDI function in action. You'll see that he processes a Rhodes loop in which the tremolo effect is ignored. But it does appear to capture velocity information, which is good. I'm guessing that pitch-bend infor...

Thanks.
From the Live 9 FAQ:
The Suite 9 upgrade price for Max for Live owners in our webshop has been automatically discounted, and it’s 50 EUR / 65 USD / 65 CHF lower than a regular upgrade.

Re: Live 9 Pricing

And for current Suite owners saying you are being forced into M4L -- that's just not true. Upgrade to Live 9 Standard. Anything you currently have licensed will continue to be licensed (like Operator, Analog, instrument packs, etc). That's worth knowing How do you know that's the case? Is there an ...

Re: Live 9 Pricing

Some historic pricing to ponder: Live 6 to Live 7 - €99 Live 7 to Live 8 - €149 Live 7 to Suite 8 - €259 (this was the price I was offered, with some sort of discount included for already owning two instruments) Some users received a €30 coupon during the initial 7 to 8 upgrade period. It seems that...
