Re: Multitrack Looper
sorry, i kinda made a mess of this. it seems someone actually read my first reply before i realized my mistake. lol. my original reply was essentially this: "if you assign the first button to both the large circle record button on the looper effect AND to the play button above that, you will en...

Re: Multitrack Looper
One question concerns setting up midi foot controls for this. I would like to set one pedal for the multifunction button of the looper, and then another pedal to select the track (e.g. up or down). Is this possible? I have seen set-ups with separate pedals assigned for each looper. i had a solution...

Re: non-global pitch automation?
damn.. the best thing i got is to run a pitch shifting effect in and assign that, however, the live pitch shift algorithm is rather nice and it's hard to find a substitute that is cheap/free. or keep my mouse handy so i can select a clip.. but that also rules out multiple simultaneous pitch assigns....

Re: annoying thing that might not bother other people
mm, that is a thought. i was hoping for a more general solution to the problem, but i have a feeling it doesn't exist. there are very rare instances i think where most people would want to do this, but i was thinking that if you could do it, it would enable you to create automation loops that were o...

non-global pitch automation?
if i assign a midi controller to the transpose controller in a particular clip, that controller only controls the pitch of whatever clip i have selected in the matrix. is there something i'm missing?

annoying thing that might not bother other people
i just realized today that if you have a certain midi controller assigned to a parameter within live, if you go to record information from that controller onto a different midi track, input will ignore that controller. for instance, i had controller 97 assigned to control the pitch of a vsti synth o...

Re: disappearing fm8 presets in recent live projects
ugh.. nevermind, i've figured this out. no idea how i'm going to solve it. these projects were made during the brief window i was using fm8 1.2, which only saves to the new .nfm8 format, which is why i downgraded back to 1.1. unfortunately that means i can't save the patches with these new song file...

disappearing fm8 presets in recent live projects
today i went to open up some recent projects i had been working on and none of the fm8 sounds were playing correctly. they had all reverted to "newsound" (the default patch that is created when you create a new patch). i hadn't saved these patches manually, but that has never been an issue...

Re: remote pitch bend control without a bitch bend wheel?
i just LOVE answering my own questions! and since at least 7 people out there read this and didn't know the answer either, i figured i'd post it here: part of the answer is that you can't control pitch bend with cc messages. pitch bend is (for those that didn't know, like myself, before this problem...

Re: interesting question about midi control
@ barstu yes, essentially. for instance, if you want to control pitch with a knob and you set the min and max to say, 25% and 75% respectively, your midi knob will now divide that 50% of the range that is left by 127 instead of 100% being divided by 127, so each 'step' of the knob will be half as mu...

Re: interesting question about midi control
lol, so i guess it wasn't a very interesting question. it's funny, i knew about the max and min values in the midi page, but for some reason i had this dumb assumption that those were to filter out midi values outside those ranges. goes to show you that it pays to actually look at stuff and read it....

Re: Pitch shifting in Ableton.
i second those recommendations: pitchwheel is probably the best bang for your buck if you're going to purchase a pitch shifter plugin. i did some side-by-side comparison with other pitch shifters, including the basic clip transpose function that is built into live (which is one of the better ones, b...
