Re: Ableton used for recording, editing and mixdown of solo guit
I am at fault at this as we've gotten far off the original topic. The point is if you have the same source recorded on 2 separate tracks you cannot group and edit them together. Ok, I now know more about editing in Ableton than I did when I worded the op, and I am in the process of pulling my size ...

Re: I have Live 8 Suite and M4L do I need to upgrade to 9 Suite?
I'll post up the exact reply so I'm not putting words in Ableton's mouth: Hi there Joshua, Thanks for your email. Yes, if you upgrade to Live 9 Standard, all of your existing instruments will be carried forward in the upgrade, and you will be able to download the updated versions via your user accou...

nope, you only need to purchase the full version of Max if you want to create Max patches independent from Live

Re: I have Live 8 Suite and M4L do I need to upgrade to 9 Suite?
I just received a reply from Ableton support. They said that even if I don't upgrade to Suite 9 and I only upgrade to Live 9, I will be able to get all of the new Max for live devices because I already owned Max for live with Suite 8

Re: Ableton used for recording, editing and mixdown of solo guit
I don't understand how panning 2 tracks hard left and right would sound better than a single stereo track. Quite simply, it sounds more like the way that I hear myself. what kind of stereo micing techniques are you using? Most techniques have both the left and right channels with equal levels. Thes...

Re: Ableton used for recording, editing and mixdown of solo guit
wow dude. lash out much? tell you what... you keep being aggro about it and i'll keep thinking what i think: 2 hot/separate tracks layered vs. 1 track will yield slightly different results. I didn't think I was lashing out. I was just trying to help the OP receive legit information opposed to specu...

Re: Ableton used for recording, editing and mixdown of solo guit
I don't understand how panning 2 tracks hard left and right would sound better than a single stereo track. They are identical. it's probably slightly louder. There is no way that it would be louder. How does that logically make any sense? well, to be fair, i said probably... is two tracks panned in...

Re: Ableton used for recording, editing and mixdown of solo guit
Although I've found Ableton's reverb to sound ok for more unique reverb sounds I found it far from realistic and would rather use third party plugins, but to each their own. Yes as the poster above said, all those types of editing can be done in Live. I'm not sure what you're struggling with exactl...

Re: Ableton used for recording, editing and mixdown of solo guit
If you're not interested in playing live with a laptop I'd actually recommend Reaper. I'm currently learning it as I'm interested in being an engineer/producer for rock bands, solo artists, etc. It's only $60 (unless you make over $20,000/year from music) but the features on it actually are above a...

Re: Live or Suite?
the beauty of Live is that it's so modular. Ableton's instruments fit so well with the workflow, if you're just starting out I think it's worth the money to get Suite but be warned, the presets are pretty horrendous but it's very easy to program sounds from most of the instruments (Tension is a litt...
