Re: Lead in to a Scene
There are a couple of solutions to this that I know of. The one I use is to set your universal quantization to 1/2 bar, and trigger the vocal line ("I want") 1/2 bar early, then trigger the rest of the scene on beat. I use this for instrumental parts, but the concept is the same. The other...

Re: Basic Editing Question
No problem at all! Glad it was helpful to you. I remember first learning Live and all the talk about clips an session vs arrangement were really confusing. If you haven't already, I recommend going through all the basic tutorials that are included with Live in the Help view. I went through them on v...

Re: Basic Editing Question
Hope I can help you out a bit. I'm not much more than a beginner myself but I think I understand what you're trying to do. My question is, can I manipulate it by (a) doubling the two measures into four measures, so that I can then make the second two measures transposed up or down? First of all, I'm...

Re: Is ASIO4All necessary?
I'm no expert on this, but I use ASIO4ALL only for my laptop's internal soundcard, which lacks ASIO drivers. From what I understand, you generally won't do better than the manufacturer's drivers. No ASIO4ALL necessary. I don't think it hurts to have it installed on the side, though. Perhaps someone ...

Re: I want to produce music in my car
Really, you just need to get signal from your laptop's output (presumably 1/8" phone unless you've got an external interface) into your car stereo. Many stereos accept 1/8" as an auxiliary input, hopefully you have one of those? If not, you might have some luck with a tape adapter if your ...

Re: Key Mapping Doesn't Work?
Dunno if you've tried this already or not... but make sure the "Computer MIDI Keyboard" button in the upper-right is turned off. If it's on, then your keymapped buttons are being picked up by it and not used for mappings. For example, in your .als that you sent, Q would work fine, but W an...

Re: Korg DS-10 Forum! www.ds10forum.com
The DS-10 is great fun, especially when you run it into some Ableton effects or put it on the other side of a crossfading mixer.

Re: Sine wave from Analog synth has extra partials?
I was wondering about this myself just a few weeks ago. It's good to see it being discussed, as I was afraid that either Analog or Spectrum wasn't working correctly, and I was afraid I was relying on imperfect tools. But it actually makes sense that Analog wouldn't produce a pure sinewave. It's a ph...

Re: Getting Visual Feedback in User 2 Mode on Launchpad
You can certainly use User mode 1 if you're not planning on also using it for drum racks or something.... Though I don't do it much (I prefer the drums), I've found that just using it as a simple CC controller using Live's MIDI mapping is pretty straightforward and provides the visual feedback. Sinc...

Re: Quantizing the "play" button
The cleanest thing I can think of is to use some kind of external sequencer, perhaps another program through a MIDI loopback, and sequence the pressing of the play button. You could trigger it to start via a Live clip, thus keeping it in sync, or trigger it by hand, so you'd only have to get the tim...

Re: cpu overload... but why?
I have been experiencing similar problems running Live 8.1.1 in Windows Vista 32 bit. I'll be playing along, happy as can be, and seemingly out of nowhere I'll get this heinous audio stuttering, that sounds like a buffer being filled, overflowed and emptied in quick succession. It's like the BPM cut...

Re: Can't record with my electronic drum kit...
This might be fairly simple, but I often miss it when I'm working... maybe it'll help you. Make sure your MIDI instrument is set to "track" in MIDI preferences, make sure the track you have your software instruments in is either set to monitor in, or is set to auto with Record Arm enabled,...

Re: Opening Sets While Performing
I'm interested in this too... instinctually I want to write all my "songs" in Ableton as separate sets but there does not appear to be an easy way to smoothly transition from one set to another that I can find, though I'm still pretty new to it Perhaps a set really is a set, which is to sa...
