Re: Question about using synth modules in Ableton.(Module noob)

Yes A midi track is like a gun. lots of bullets (different sounds) can come from lots of guns or one gun. The difference is that a gun can only fire 1 round at a time whereas a midi track can fire 128 midi notes at once but would require 128-voice polyphony to do this. Yeah! I kinda get that IF the...

Question about using synth modules in Ableton.(Module noob)

Let's say I use a Dave Smith Tetra 4 voice polyphonic synth. On one MIDI track, I recorded a 4 note chord loop, I'll use the MIDI-out feature for it so that the data would still be MIDI so that I can quantize it. Can I still use the Tetra for a 2nd MIDI track for a bass/lead or other polyphonic soun...

Re: What's up with the Props???????????

No built-in recycle-like slicing = major fail. Props always talk about workflow but there is no worse workflow for working with sliced material than having to open a file in recycle, slice it, export it, open reason, browse for Rex file and open it in dr. Octorex. I can't believe they finally inclu...

Korg Nanopad X/Y pad quick question.

I'm waiting for my nanopad on the mail. And I wanna ask a question if there's a way to map Ableton's auto-filter to the X/Y pad, that once you touch and slide your finger it will activate and control the filter, but once you release your finger, it will turn off or bypass the effects?

Re: How do you make this kinda bass?

It's really not that difficult to give a general outline of what a sound consists of when it comes to synthesis. You may not be 100% right but you can easily pick out certain charactoristics if you're experienced. I was listening to something the other day and I said to my wife "that sound rig...

Re: How do you make this kinda bass?

I'm not saying I can hear everything that's going on, but even through the compression you can hear how the mix is done completely to make the song groove. I did try doing a quick replication of the song's sound before posting, and that's where my explanation of the bass synth sound comes from, but...

Re: How do you make this kinda bass?

But I don't think there's a slap bass sample on the bass. i don't know, i hear one clearly, it is layered with a synth bass, though... but definitely a slap bass sample is there in the 'background'. I see I can hear now. I just woke up when I said that. But I wanna know if we really need a sampled ...

I'll try all of that. Yeah I can sense the sidechaining too. But I don't think there's a slap bass sample on the bass.

Re: Taking a look at Cubase

I use both. For me, I can't really compare both, or prefer one on the other. Both of them are both beautiful beast. What I like about Cubase is that, when you map something on the quickcontrols, say the mod wheel, if you go to another track, you can still use the mod wheel again and map it on anoth...

Re: How do you make this kinda bass?

I just noticed also that the layered synth makes the bass sound snappier.

Anymore suggestion guys? Just keep them coming. :)

How do you make this kinda bass?

I mean, not really imitate it, but how to make it slap like it? Do you layer it? Hmmmm... It's really catchy.

Re: Taking a look at Cubase

It's like rats from a sinking ship.... Cubase is solid....give it a try, but reason 5 is on the horizon so you might want to consider waiting a little bit will reason 5 support VST? It's not even announced yet. But I'm 100 percent sure that Reason 5 will not have VST support. And I like it that way...
