Re: USB Audio and ground loop
It's almost certainly to do with your monitors and not the usb audio. If you have balanced outputs on your sound card and inputs on your monitors, use those (and balanced cables) and your hum should disappear.

Re: Final Sound Mastering for DJ Sets
^^ I know I know,,, and the engineer in me knows it's wrong! Maybe I'm not explaining well. I love when a DJ mix has a special and cohesive sound to it. And I'm not talking about song selection. Modern audiences are literally trained to enjoy things that have been compressed repeatedly. Most club s...

Re: Drawing operator waveforms
That's interesting, I never thought about it before. Actually, The SawD and SquareD waveforms are misrepresented in the preset. Each of the harmonics for both Square and Saw waveforms should be decreasing (halving) over the frequency range, (as you can see in Spectrum). Drawing the harmonics in manu...

Re: How can you add more weight to your kick drums with sine
You can create a sine track playing a continuous sine tone (make sure you pitch it properly to your tune). Now throw a Gate effect on there. Turn the Gate's sidechain on and assign it to the kick track (or if you're using a full kit type drumloop track you can use the sidechain EQ to only grab the ...

Re: kick, snare and sub mix
Maybe some more processing on the drums and/or sidechain compression on the bassline? Hah. All I can hear of the song is the sidechain... any more of it, and there won't be much else left. @OP It sounds like there's frequencies overlapping in all directions and each sound doesn't leave any space to...

... and sure enough, bad advise comes rolling in! Not to discredit anyone's kind approach and willingness to help, but this is beyond ridiculous... You are looking at a screenshot of an instant within a song. Not a video of the the whole song, and not even an averaged reading of the whole song. Just...

Hey yo, could anyone tell me if this picture I took of my garden sounds right? I like that you try been sarcastic :)) ... but there is parameters you see in the spectrum analyzer, from which you get to know what to change in your sound. Because you hear one thing while the spectrum shows other! But...

Re: legalities about sampling / sound usage
saying hip hop is based on sampling is like saying the blues was based on harmonica, know your history but, lets not ruin this thread..haha,w/e Hip hop IS based on sampling, and I say that in reverence to hip hop and the art of sampling as I am a hip hop head who samples myself. But lets break it d...

Re: legalities about sampling / sound usage
They didn't win however the defendant's still had to hire lawyers which can cost as much as clearing a sample. Not so. If the case is lost all charges (including those of the defendant) are footed by the prosecution. There have been many high profile cases which had inconclusive results, including ...

Re: legalities about sampling / sound usage
I'm not a lawyer, but I know for a fact if you use even a millisecond of a sample it is considered infringement. The duration makes no difference. Not quite... Lawyers can write whatever they like in a contract (within the legal realms). Until it makes it into a court of law and a dispute arises, it...
