Re: Hajimemashite (first song online!)

Nicely done! I particularly like your use of the triangle. It was completely unexpected and refreshing. By the end, though, my ears got a little tired of all the buzzing sawtooth sounds.

Re: melodic hiphop/electronica

I'm borrowing a Korg Mono/Poly from my friend :) and come to think of it, I can't really remove the noise from the melodic pad sound without dampening the pad sound as well. I guess that's what happens when you use Sampler with field recordings. even so, I'm actually growing a little fond of the no...

Re: //gemstone

That is an interesting song. The synths are very nice, and the mix is very good. I don't like the apparent tempo change right in the beginning, though. The kick drum appears to start at a much higher tempo for the first few seconds, and then it drops down. It is too disturbing to occur that soon in ...

Re: New Song - New Panties

I cleaned up some muddiness with the guitars in the chorus and sharpened up the snare a bit, I hope. Unless anyone notices any glaring problems, this should be my final cut. I've decided that I don't like working with sample loops. They are just too difficult to mix and too hard to control!

Re: melodic hiphop/electronica

That's a cool tune! The noise is too much, though. I would get rid of it altogether.

What synth are you using, particularly for the bass? It sounds really good!

I don't hear anything wrong with the bass.

Re: Would appreciate some feedback on this rock mix!

Hmm differing opinions here about the guitar but obviously something needs to be done - I will probably play with the EQ. I would simply turn down the level a bit and try adding some reverb to push it back somewhat. Re: crying, ha ha... all my friends said keep it in. Honestly, it struck me as rath...

Re: My first online track

That's a good song. It sounds a lot like The Cure. I kept expecting Robert Smith to start in at any moment. Actually, that is what the song needs: vocals. It cries out for them! Eight minutes is just too long for that type of song to be purely instrumental. Otherwise, it is a very clean, well record...

Re: Chilled - Something totally different from me - Silent Earth

I'm glad you couldn't tell if the instruments were real or not. I'm going for something more "real" with this. The main instrument is actually the Balinese Gamelan sample pack from soniccouture. Had to go with the cheapest version because that's the only one compatible with Live. Oh, good...

Re: My first vocal track

That's a good song! It sounds like it should be playing in an 80's chick flick, as John Cusack wanders aimlessly through the city streets after being dumped by some girl. I think that the kick could use a little more ummmph, but everything sounds very good.

Re: Chilled - Something totally different from me - Silent Earth

Sounds very good! What is the main instrument? It sounds like a xylophone, but I'm not sure. Is it real, or synthesized? Those drums are really good, too. Very jazzy!

The link to the previous version no longer works. I wanted to compare the new one to the old one before I commented, but my initial impression is that the new one is much improved.

Re: Would appreciate some feedback on this rock mix!

The guitars are too loud. They practically drown everything else out. The drums are buried. I also found the cymbal crashes to be disturbing and annoying, but I don't really know why. There is just something about that cymbal that doesn't sound right to me. The vocals need some reverb. They don't re...
