I've had absolutely no problems using Vista 32 bit or Vista 64 bit for audio work. Once you eliminate all the unneeded extras (a few more than XP lol) it all works great. The only problem with 64 bit is not having the drivers for certain sound cards, but that is really the sound card manufacturers' ...
