Re: Paris Hilton 'djing'.

Ok, then I think it's just a degree of how much someone is informed then, the level of how much a person is involved in sub-cultures vs mainstream. People who passively take in media from mainstream sources only know about what's on the surface so they aren't aware there are sub-cultures and apprec...

Re: Paris Hilton 'djing'.

Don't get me wrong either, the 60's and 70's WERE definitive for DJs, sure, but not when it comes to performance.

Re: Paris Hilton 'djing'.

Worldwide culture has given a shit about dj's since the 60's, and moreso since the 70's once disco came about. The difference is is that since the 2000's with the addition of computers and midi controllers, dj'ing has become a lot cheaper and easier, which means marketable. Since Marketing glorifie...

Re: Paris Hilton 'djing'.

Yeah yippy a whole new demographic of dance music "fans", who go for the big name instead of the music. The future looks way brighter then, than the present does. I can hardly wait... However the same thing happened near the end of the 90's and that fanbase (many who started with s...

Re: Paris Hilton 'djing'.

Celebrity guest DJs don't bother me. These people do not get paid to DJ, they get paid for publicity and to get heads through the door. Nobody who knows anything about DJing takes them seriously as a talent so there is really no point to get worked up about it. Hey, at least we have a worldwide cult...

Re: Imported mp3s are distorted in 9 Lite

I would recommend that you convert your mp3 into a .wav or .aiff type file (with iTunes or Audacity, or anything else), and then use that file with Live 9. Try turning off "Warp" if you know the mp3' BPM. There is no need to convert to wav or aiff first. Live will do that upon import usin...

Re: PC to PC with crossover cable or better option

Are crossover cables still needed? The last few times I synced with someone I could have sworn we just used regular Ethernet cables without the crossover. I thought there was a new auto detecting standard of sorts these days. Beyond that, I definitely prefer Ethernet when syncing two laptops. We alw...

Re: This Morning I found myself missing Live 7s warp method

I'm so much faster at warping now than I used to be, it's hard to even remember what the old one was like. I do remember struggling with the change at first but I think it forced me to adopt better practices overall.

Re: Low latency 2-6 channel soundcards for live ableton performa

I have to echo the suggestion to go RME Babyface. The stability and overall feature set of RME is worth holding out for.

Focusrite can have stability issues at low latencies. Beyond that, they are an okay daily driver.

Re: New Sonar gone monthly subscription. Might Ableton go same?

These types of subscription models are new age piracy protection in disguise. How so?! I doubt that measure alone would make the software harder to crack. I would go as far as saying that this model would put the pirats at an even bigger advantage vs. the honest user than they already are. With sub...

Re: New Sonar gone monthly subscription. Might Ableton go same?

These types of subscription models are new age piracy protection in disguise. They are also a clever way to get people who have disposable income to let go of more money, while at the same time allowing an introductory path for people who can't afford the full amount upfront. I hate it because I ten...

PS this is the opposite of Hawtin pre-2000. He was a minimalist back then. ;)
