Re: Will there be a "Apply FX to track" feature soon?
Hang on,you can do that with the "flatten" command. Or are you thinking of something else?

Re: Mix Multi track in Drum Rack?
I see, but the 'audio to' box is greyed out... I can't seem to be able to do it. I have the individual kick track appearing (either in session view, or in the drum rack in arrangement view), but can't assign it to another output, nor a send... here what the explanation says: "Sets the output r...

Re: Field Recorders
We like the Edirol R-09. It's very simple to operate if you need to grab a sound in a hurry, it's robust, and the mics are pretty good. Downside - no XLR input, may be a little above your price range (but should be cheaper than a H4N). If you want/need XLR then H4N is probably the way to go.

Re: Operator Love Thread
I've been using it together with spectrum to teach about additive and subtractive synthesis last week....really clear and easy to understand. The only thing from a teaching perspective is I'd like it if the waveform visualisation was a little bigger.

Re: Setting up 128s... - and 'choking' (e.g. with hi hats)
Seems to me it would work better in a drum rack, it's exactly the sort of thing drum racks are good at. Put an instrument rack on the open and closed hi hat pads, drag your hi hat samples into the instrument racks, set the hi hat pads to the same choke group. If you like you can set a macro to dial ...

Yes you can. You can't do nested groups though.southsounder wrote:Oh yeah - I never think about grouping tracks because I still do a fair bit of my writing on a Live 7/G4 machine. Can you group a single track though? I forget.

Re: automation messed up
Sometimes the back to arrangement function isn't what you want, especially if you were lowering overall volume on a track to avoid overloading a physical output. I mimic Logic's mixer setup where every physical output is assigned a blank audio track set to 'no input' and then monitor in. I then ass...

Re: automation messed up
How do you want it to behave? Pretty much all the DAWs have a choice between either recording over your old automation or ignoring the MIDI controller completely. I think Ableton acts differently so that when you're performing live the controller you're using can override automation without deleting...

Re: Saving MIDI track before bouncing to audio
I find both of these easier than dragging stuff in and out but depends on what you're used to I guess: Duplicate the track (ctrl or cmd-D), render one of the tracks, mute the other (keep all the muted MIDI tracks in a group out of the way if you find it getting too complicated). If I'm doing this to...

Re: Decimal point values for Volume
Same with mine. Except now I check, it also works with typing in comma even though it displays as dot.
It's a bit odd that it doesn't work for balonny to be honest. I can't see anywhere in preferences where you could turn that on or off.
balonny, maybe if you post a pic?

Re: Decimal point values for Volume
Not sure what you mean - if you expand the faders you can type in volumes next to the faders, using either point or comma for decimal, and it sets the volume, or if you don't expand them moving the faders will also give you point values which show up in the status bar at the botton. If you mean the ...

Re: Buying a new MBP after the new year need help!
The only thing I'd add is if you're going live and/or if you have any firewire gear go for the non-retina 13" and spec it up as much as you can. Reasons? - 13" seems a lot better for stage use, less likely to be knocked over, takes up less space on your stand or rack. It really seems to ma...

Re: ::: Favorite free Vocal Correction software? :::
Gsnap works pretty well for PC. I used to stream vocals through it live controlling the pitch via MIDI loops and it worked as well as doing the same in autotune although it's a little less tweakable. There is also a M4L "autotune" patch if you have M4L although I can't speak for its effect...

Re: I JUST noticed this... not even sure where to post
I think this is annoying as well. I use an electronic drum kit to trigger drum sounds from live as well as VSTs like Superior Drummer and Battery. I had to go into my drum module and change the midi notes by an octave for every trigger. If I interface with a DAW that is NOT wrong by an octave... We...
