Re: Festival Recap

Looks like a fun weekend dude - did you have to carry all your gear and stands and stuff in flight cases right up to the tent, or was there some sort of safe storage sort of place? I always wonder about the logistics of these events with loads of different artists each with a bunch of sensitive equi...

Re: Going to try and record some vocals, any advice?

If you're recording other people who aren't 100% confident singers, then make sure you have a rock-solid poker face for the entire session. If they make a little mistake or are feeling self-conscious, one little smirk or smile could bomb their confidence and possibly ruin the whole session. Even on ...

Re: How is live electronic music done?

The most straightforward way if your songs already have a definite structure is just a backing track and a click track sent to the drummer, and do it as Luddy described. You can build on that from there, by providing the drummer some control over the tempo (e.g midi map a drum pad to tap tempo so th...

Re: Possible bug?? Audio files go above zero when loaded in Live

Hmm..Looks like I've detected what's the problem in my case .. It's EQ3 8O :? .. Everything is on zero, preset is default and I was using EQ3 just for kill switches (Low, Mid,Hi) during dj-ing .. Now, I figured it out when I tried to turn it off, everything goes normal (no over-peak/red).. This is ...

Re: New logo-y thing

The colours in the lettering is groovy, you've sorta kinda negativified the picture behind, right? Except not negative, the other effect...looks cool. I'd have chosen a different font though. Just my own preference, but I'd have gotten something slantier, pointier...a bit zip-zap, peow peow peow sor...

Re: How about an age-centric social network?

'Validate'? Oh now your getting nasty. If you want to start winding down towards the inevitable, then be my guest - each to their own and all that. I'm curious - what prompted the original post? I can think of some good reasons for segregation, but not on the lines of age you suggest - perhaps as f...

Re: Thread for posting covers of Zelda and other videogame music

Yeah dude, cheers for the comments! I'm slowly being persuaded to learn Aeris' Theme from FF7 next. I might start looking for work playing background piano in classy restaurants but make my set up entirely of video game arrangements in some weird subversive statement about society. Or something.

I caved and made Song of Storms. It's here. I think I'll take a break from Zelda covers after this.

Re: How to deal with resampling (for electro remix)

I normally cut up my samples in arrangement view - the grid should stay the same whether the sample on it is warped or not. If you really need to have the warp options available, set the warp mode to repitch and make sure the bpm of the sample is the same as the bpm of the set. This will enable all ...

Re: What are "layering" and "re-sampling"?

I understand that this will save you space , but does it change anything else. sample rate, the quality, whats really the adavantage of re-sampling,just saving space? weeeelllll it's kinda just about workflow really, it's another option for how to juggle your sounds to use them effectively. One the...

Re: How to deal with resampling (for electro remix)

Set the master bpm of the Live set to the same bpm as the original song, and then turn off the warping on each track. Check that the start and end markers for all tracks are at the same place, and they should in theory all fit.

Re: Oh For the love of god! Nooooooo!

Business is business.

I think if they can make some bucks off the t-pain wannabes and that money goes back in to the business to improve some of the other products they do, that's probably a good thing. Probably.

Re: No inspiration!

Dip yourself in some other art - go to an indie cinema and watch a random foreign film, go to a small free art gallery and wander around having a think. Find a genre of music that you don't know much about which doesn't piss you off (for me, it would be something like jazz), and go watch it live for...

Re: Google Plus!

I'm happy to support g+ until it's big enough and popular enough to really give FB's market dominance a hammering. It's a shame that it's being made by a company as possibly unscrupulous as google, but sadly it needs resources of that size to go up against the behemoth that is facebook. Hopefully it...
