Re: Recording to external HDD?
Samples from the Library, etc, will be where they are until you Collect All and Save, and then they will be in the project folder.

Re: move kit to separate tracks
With a Drum Rack you can unfold the track in Session View and see each Chain. You can add devices and mix each chain as needed. For some reason, you cannot see all of the info in Arrangement View, so just use Session View as your Mix view. You can route each drum into an Audio Track using the Audio ...

Re: Audio Offset help please - Scarmbling beats
You are on the right track, just mess with it a bit. Make sure the grid is set to 16th note, and you can drum + or - .

Re: Recording to external HDD?
Just move the project folder to the drive and open it from there. Live puts recordings in the same folder as the .als file.

Re: Can't render seperate track outputs for addictive drums
Can you take a screenshot of the mixer with i/o showing, so I can see your routing? Is the monitor set to IN on each of the tracks?

Re: 4 db of dynamic range is the new norm
I remember about people making fun of death magnetic Metalica album for having something like 4db Dynamic range. Well it's the rule now isn't it ? That album is largely responsible for the mainstream backlash to the Loudness Wars. Ted Jensen who mastered it has spoken out about how much he dislikes...

Re: Building a multi-band sidechain compressor rack...need help
There is such a thing as a dynamic EQ, Sonalksis and TC Electronic both make one, but they are rarely needed. What are you trying to do that is so out there that such a tool is needed?

Re: Building a multi-band sidechain compressor rack...need help
Ok, 3 things... 1) The easy way is to use a rack with 3 EQ3 devices each on their own chain, and 2 of the L, M, or H turned off in each, then put a Compressor on each chain after the EQ3. EQ 8 will give you less coloring at the crossovers, but will take more time to setup. Vengeance does make a plug...

Re: re route headphone audtion
Yes, but not as a default Live feature... are you on Mac or Windows? Do you have an audio interface with loopback functionality?
And why do you need to record from the preview, why not just import the file?

Re: Hard disk overload....
Unless your computer is really slow, it is probably the drive. Are you using USB or Firewire? You might also consider backing up everything on the drive, reformatting it, and partitioning it. The first partition will be a little faster since it is on the outside of the spinning tray.

Re: ableton clipping sound
Have you tried just using the built-in sound card to trouble shoot it?
