tricky++

Maxinquaye IMHO is a masterpiece and Pre-Millenmium Tension is the sound of beautiful psychosis. I remember a reviewer at the time writing that "the best guitar player in the world right now is Tricky with a sampler" and I thought that pretty much summed it up.

$2250 for 1000 s.f. in Brooklyn. Probably $750K to buy a comparable place.

But you can't always put a price on never driving, everything you need to live your life within 5 blocks of the place you live. 15 minute commute to work. Cool people all around... NY rules.

I have a friend who is a Full Sail graduate of some 10 years ago. Has done very well for himself. On the road for better part of 5 years doing live work for a lot of new metal bands. Got tired of travelling and is now head of production at House of Blues in Chicago. I know he was assisting when he g...

Stayed in this place about 4 times. Its nothing great but clean and the neighborhood is cool - its a short walk to both the Bastille district (11th) and very short walk to r. Oberkampf which is a great neighborhood (Menilmontent) with lots of music. Last time was about 3 years ago so hopefully its s...

holy shit - the schedule at that place is incredible. Marc Ribot solo in a few weeks? Steve Buscemi reading Beat poetry?

I guess that's why I pay $2K a month rent.

the Mexican Fender's from around that time period are nice - I bought one for my wife (then g-friend) when she thought she wanted to dabble in some bass awhile back.

I myself have been playing a '77 J-Bass for the past 15 years.

PJ - I switched for the same reason - just looking forward to a culture change after a lot of years on win. Don't forget to factor in a bit of a learning curve in moving over to the Mac life. Things may seem a bit frustrating at first even though OSX is by far a more user friendly environment but in...

I'm in the same boat as you - wanted to dip my toe in the Mac water before really committing and didn't want to wait for the macTels. I went with the 12" iBook b/c of price - with Applecare and extra RAM (don't get less than a gig) it was still 1500 USD new which when you upgrade the warranty a...
