Sony MDR 7506 for me too.
That being said, it is best to actually try them out for yourself. I kept trying different ones to no avail. Finally, I go to a music store that let you try out a bunch. I went through about 12 and the Sony's won me over.

Re: Out Of Memory Error
Actually the thing at the top is a 'most utilized core' meter. Live uses multiple cores a little differently due to the 'real-time' nature of the program. Like most meters don't read a whole lot into it. They are used for measurement of a single thing. Measurements are always approximations. Back to...

Re: Recommended resources for beat/drum programming?
The best drum programmers tend to be drummers themselves. I would start from the basics and learn some rhythm fundamentals.
Also, do you start a song with drum programming? If so, stop and start with a melody or chord progression. Then program your drums.

Re: A stupid question about editing audio
Ableton was not designed as a 2 track editor. Audacity is a 2 track editor that added extra tracks along the way. That being said I do podcasts in Ableton. It can be frustrating at first but the limitations can be overcome. I used to use Sound Forge for all my editing but have used Ableton for so lo...

Re: help with a phono preamp
What specific Numark product do you have? If the turntable has RCA phono (red and white) jacks then there are one of two scenarios. Turntable RCA Phone Out x 2 -> RCA to 1/4" cables ->Audio Interface inputs x 2 Or Turntable RCA Phone Out x 2 -> Phono preamp to both boost signal and apply RIAA c...

Re: Audio Volume & Mastering Proplem
You are on the right track with using a limiter. Live's one can do what you want but yes Ozone is a world better. Although I should caveat my advice with the words, mastering is more than simply making it 'seem' louder. But in these days this is 90% of what the people want. Research loudness wars fo...

Re: mulptiple outputs
Best way I can see is to use sends to do all your routing.
Setup 6 sends or however many you need. On their return tracks route the output to the respective hardware output that you want.
Also you need to set each channel in your set to have its output on 'sends only'

Low bitrates are the reason why you are failing/are frustrated with music? I doubt it.
Technical approaches to creativity can work but here you are over thinking things.

Re: Midi vs Audio
I would say you are probably ok too given todays machines. However, if you wanted to be a bit more safe I would convert any backing tracks that warrant it to audio. Another + for converting to audio I get annoyed when I open projects from long ago only to find out that I can't play a certain track b...

Re: Advice for someone that wants to do more with music
+1 to gigs. The next step is to play music in front of people.
The question is. Is that something you really want to do? You will find out if you try.
It can be fun for quite a while. Just not forever.
