Re: my story about NI denying any help with my Maschine licence
I can understand your anger, but I guess the store where you bought it messed up. EDU should be less expensive and I think there should be also a note on your bill. btw. you can't just buy an EDU version, you have to show a proof that you are qualified for that. I know! that's the point. I know tha...

Re: my story about NI denying any help with my Maschine licence
this is completely normal, because its an edu version. its with every piece of software bought under EDU licenses! I didnt mention this: I bought it for a FULL PRICE as a NORMAL version. (sorry I've been repeating that to the NI customer support all day, and I guess my brain was tired to say it aga...

my story about NI denying any help with my Maschine licence
since there is quite a bit of talking about Maschine lately, I guessed it was right to write my experience here as well. it's a bit of a rant and a bit of an advice about all your NI licences. if you want to skip the story and the rant, you can find the advice at the end. (this is more or less a cop...

Re: Singing Vocals Don't Export to .Wav Format
if I copy and paste the singing voices into another set, they work fine when exporting to .wav. It's just another sweet mystery of life I guess. I'm probably going to have to redo all the voice parts. Bummer!! have you tried creating a new empty track in this set and copy/paste a recorded voice to ...

beautiful song!
I agree with the lack of lower frequencies though, you can hear that some "physical presence" of the music is missing.
and the pads in the beginning make a clicking noise, like a sampled that wasn't cut well?

Re: Baloney Grease
I don't really get if you are sarcastic of what. I didn't mean to bash you or be disrepectful, I was just trying to give you a couple of advices and criticism as you asked. you didn't provide any explanation about your music nor about what you were aiming for. if that was the result you wanted, good...

Re: a curiosity from a newbie
it really depends on the kind of music and the way you create your sounds (building up layers, using one track with many effects, ...). I don't think I have a final answer... as many as I need I guess! if you feel overwhelmed by the number of tracks, try to get the grasp of composition with simpler ...

Re: Baloney Grease
the basic idea for the mood of the song isn't bad, but the various instruments are completely out of tune with one another. I'd suggest to study some basic music theory. composition wise, you should try to make the first part and the second to flow into each other a bit better, like you did for the ...

Re: akia mpk 49 pads.. sensitivity question.
"you don't need to change any settings, if you watch the mod video othe people already linked (it's this if you didn't see it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_mI4SutQJpQ ), you know what to do." but that was my point the default for the MPD had the threshold quite high, so before altering...

Re: which 25-key controller to DJ with?
if you want to use EVERYTHING you have on your controller, get yourself a MPK25 and fix the pads like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_mI4SutQJpQ (or cut squares from a rubber sheet, or buy new pads from mpcstuff.com). the pads on the SL MKII are even worse than those of the MPK without the upg...

Re: Cheapo DJ Controllers
since you are just starting, I'd suggest to get yourself the software first.
you can controll pretty much everything with your computer keyboard as if it was a controller.
then if you see you are enjoying it, don't bother buying the cheap stuff and go with some good controller...

Re: Do controllers store sounds from Ableton?
I actually think that Sunsetter's suggestion about the laptop was the best solution for you guys. I don't know your background and your knowledge about synths or software, but you will have much more freedom (in terms of sound) with an average laptop and some software synth than with a hardware synt...
