Re: How to get that Huge Booming Radio/TV Commercial voice sound
sure, don't go crazy on the compression bcuz radio stations compresses signals anyway and things can get squashed ie every song on the radio. but most commercials are compressed to make them sound louder than program content to make people pay attention(maybe a 3db boast or so) hence Billy Mays com...

Re: How to get that Huge Booming Radio/TV Commercial voice sound
yes on the 57, whats the pick up pattern for the Average Condenser. if its omni then no(it only works for cardioid/directional mics only ) Its not an Omni directional so i suppose it should work. If the input isn't as big and boomy as i'd like is there any way to effect it so it sounds better? Tran...

Re: How to get that Huge Booming Radio/TV Commercial voice sound
look up proximity effect on mic technique (for cardioid pick up patterns only) and the right mic helps I hear the EV RE20's are good for that http://www.sweetwater.com/expert-center/glossary/t--ProximityEffect Interesting. I have a 57 and a Average Condenser. Would this effect work with both of the...

How to get that Huge Booming Radio/TV Commercial voice sound
Doing a jingle and it needs a voice over section. Looking for suggestions on how to obtain that huge, bassy, booming Radio/TV commercial voice over sound.
I've got mixed results with combinations of Compressor, EQing, widening and reverb but i could really use some tips if anyone has some.
Thanks

aside from doing work for a horrible organization i thought it sounds good. does the job nicely. only criticism would be that the bass doesn't cut through very well.

Re: Just found some outboard gear on the side of the road
Actually, on a computer "Outboard" refers to external parts and "Onboard" refers to parts attached directly to the motherboard. So I imagine the OP wasn't really referring to physical vs virtual  Precisely. Although i would like to find some good VSTs on the side of the ro...

Just found some outboard gear on the side of the road
Can anyone help me out with this?
Its a Pro Tools/Digidesign Quad Audio Interface. Pretty old looking. Searching Google said it's either an SA4 or a 442 NuBus Interface.
Anyone know what this is actually called and what i can do with it. I have no cables but got it running with a powercord.

Re: Making Acoustic Guitar sound like Electric Guitar
Hey guys, appreciating the comments. I have played around with saturators with decent results.
I could use some more information on EQing the input signal to get it sounding more like an electric guitar DI. I assume taking of some low and and possibly carving off some really high frequencies.
