Re: Livecontrol 2
Bit of a long shot this, but can anyone help? When I'm at my friends house, I can connect via WiFi and the Lemur daemon without any problems, but with my own network at home the iPad lemur doesn't show up and I need to set up an adhoc network. The problem is obviously with my network, but I don't kn...

Re: Livecontrol 2
One of the options in the 'Actions' section of the sequencer page is to adjust note length. Its to the left of the screen if I remember rightly (I'm at work so can't check unfortunately) and works by dragging a slider to the value you want (eg. 1/16, 1/8 etc).

Re: Livecontrol 2
For me the WiFi is very quick (I use an adhoc network though). TouchAble in its current state doesn't work well with Live 9 (EQ8 is broken, for example), but LiveControl also offers a number of other features. Things like the sequencer and the harmonic player are executed really well, and it replica...

Re: Livecontrol 2
Yes - this is hands down better than the current version of TouchAble (although the TouchAble developers have promised something special to come...). I've just squeezed 30 minutes playing round with it and already have something I could develop. Does anyone know if there is a way to delete clips? If...

Re: basic compressor question, amplifying instead of ducking
Even with the attack/hold/release control, a regular gate essentially only varies between two states. The benefit of doing this with the built-in compressor is the ability to make the volume swell in actual relation to the sidechain signal. In principle, this would call for upward expansion, with a...

Re: basic compressor question, amplifying instead of ducking
Easiest way I can think of is to sidechain the gate plugin and switch on the 'reverse' button - this will then only let the volume through when the kick sounds. You can then use the release and attack dials to customise how sudden the effect starts and stops.

Re: PSP MasterComp $49 - only until April 2nd 2013
Nice one - thanks a lot. I appreciate the time your taken to write such a clear explanation. I'll definitely take your advice on board and hopefully get a better sense of what works and what doesn't. I've found the new compressor visualisation modes in Live 9 give you a sense of how the signal is be...

Re: PSP MasterComp $49 - only until April 2nd 2013
Great - thanks! I think I am going to learn the ins and outs of the two compressors included with Live 9 first before expanding my compressor collection any further. Someone posted a great thread over on Sonic Academy that has helped me a lot... http://forums.sonicacademy.com/Topic93043-33-1.aspx Wh...

Re: PSP MasterComp $49 - only until April 2nd 2013
I'm not at the level yet to understand how different compressors affect different sounds with their own individual characteristic, but am really interested to find out. Could you explain how a buss compressor works differently to a master compressor?

Re: PSP MasterComp $49 - only until April 2nd 2013
Shit. After upgrading to Ableton 9 my bank account is totally cleared and then this deal comes along. Has anyone here got this? How does it compare to Ableton's compressors (especially now the Glue is included). At $49 its very tempting... This kind of attitude is the reason your account is complet...

Re: Making Ambient Music (tips, methods, workflow, etc)
Stars of the Lid every time for me. The different side projects as well (The Dead Texan; A Winged Victory for the Sullen) I find really inspiring. If I write one track half as good as anything from 'And Their Refinement of the Decline' I'll die a happy man. In terms of tips, I've found stretching sa...

Re: PSP MasterComp $49 - only until April 2nd 2013
That's interesting - I've got Bob Katz's book and haven't had chance to look at it yet. I didn't realise he recommended it there. I think I might take another look...
