Re: Live skin inspired by NI Maschine

If this can be tweaked for full use on Live 9, it'll my go-to skin for forever.

Re: Focusrite Scarlett users (& maybe U with random crashes/nois

Fascinating dude! I have a 18i6, and I used to get random crashes ALL THE TIME in Live 8. Now it's not as common, but I knew it was because of the 18i6 because when I'd just be tinkering with things and using the built-in sound card and computer speakers, I'd get zero crashes. So only when the 18i6 ...

Re: Push as a 'set of constraints'

If there wasn't some sort of set of constraints, then it would be a laptop with some touch pads. I see what he is saying, and it's true. It's finding a device that combines the best of what you need while not giving everything that you don't. A piano, synthesizer, and any other instrument have gigan...

Re: Live skin inspired by NI Maschine

Here's a Maschine-style skin I made using the Ableton Skin Editor. I recommend changing the Auto-Assign Clip Colors to OFF and the Default clip color to Orange Just download the file to Local Disk/Ableton/Live 8.X.X/Resources/Skins (for PC) or /app package/app-resources/skins (for Mac) http://www.m...

Re: Performing Live Guitar And Bass with Ableton Live

This is similar to what I have going on with Ableton. Either 2 guitars OR a guitar and bass being played live, with drums, synths, etc. all playing at the same time. We don't have a controller though. This can all be done with one computer, however. A computer running Ableton and an audio interface ...

Re: mIcrotonal support in LIve

I will say I started this thread in an effort(albeit a weak effort) to express my feeling that at this point in the development of civilization we shouldn't need workarounds to work with microtonally with supposedly "state of the art" applications like Live.It should be part and parcel. (...

Re: Cool Edit

Yeah I also loved Cool Edit. Also, it won't install on my Windows 7 machine, so my version I've used for a decade has probably seen it's last days. Which is sad. It was so intuitive and user friendly, and was powerful and fast for its time. In a word, it did anything you wanted it to, and quickly, a...

Re: Why do YOU choose Ableton?!

I've been a musician for ~15 years, but have been very traditional in that I just play my instrument and write songs the 'traditional' way. I have an old version of Cakewalk that I would occasionally record stuff on. Beyond that, nothing. A couple years ago, I really wanted to get into the home reco...

Re: Implications of obscure scales in electronic dance music?

Well, the Hungarian minor, harmonic minor and melodic minor scales are used, there are those one or two pitches that are sharp which don't occur in regular major/minor scales and all their accompanying modes. So honestly, there is no way to say a specific yes or no answer to your question. The raise...

Re: Big problem with Eq Eight

I noticed that the two screenshots are taken at different times in the song, does that affect the levels of the song at that time? Or you're saying that it's pretty much the same case throughout the song, and the EQ8 really does increase the volume? Anyway, yeah, I really don't know what could be go...

[Reposted from a post about this in the M4L forum] Hey guys, just FYI, I got an email about a reply to a Live 9 beta thread I was following (didn't know the beta forum was still going actually) from Oli Larkin, and he said that he's updated everything to work with 64 bit for Kasio and that it should...

Re: How's jBridge working for you?

jBridge sometimes gives an error with Sylenth (which is 32 bit) when I'm using Live 9 Suite (which is 64 bit). It also has a tendency to sometimes just revert Sylenth back to the initial default synth sound at any random time. It's like a crap shoot if one of those two things will happen. I can't fi...
