Re: Using Elektron Analog Four as external hardware

Analog 4 can absolutely be used as an audio interface.

Look into Overbridge: https://www.elektron.se/overbridge/

It gives you a lot of options. You can route each oscillator to its own track if you want.

Norman McLaren

Just learned of him. Amazing stuff. I think I might look for an old moviola and tinker a bit myself...

Re: the topic of topics: MIDI vs AUDIO ("what is music"?)

It all makes sense now! Code... Italian... The Da Vinci Code! Templars. That is all. Okay, maybe not. Seriously, the code is all well and good, but to say that the code only exists in the mind would mean that music only exists in the mind. Again, we have breached the tangible, and entered into the p...

Re: the topic of topics: MIDI vs AUDIO ("what is music"?)

(1) Good luck playing a thunderstorm real time.

(2) Art needs no rules to create it. Someone had to come up with the rules to help teach/explain the methods used, but you can be certain that the rules did not come before the art.

Re: the topic of topics: MIDI vs AUDIO ("what is music"?)

You're missing the point entirely. Music can be written, yes, but the end result is what truly matters. Say, for example, you are creating a song that you want to have the sounds of traffic, a storm, nature, birds, etc. How will you do this with MIDI? Subjectively speaking, the final piece may or ma...

Re: the topic of topics: MIDI vs AUDIO ("what is music"?)

...so i asked them why they call audio "music" and not just "sound", but they reacted in a strange angry way, telling me i am a racist and i am mocking american population (?!!!!), and started saying i am an italian troll, "go to eat pasta", insulting me etc. So now we...

Re: the topic of topics: MIDI vs AUDIO ("what is music"?)

For a musician (performer) that is "music recorded" not music in itself. Of course you call it "music", but in a sense of "listening to music recorded", not in a music (code) sense. As I said, maybe this is a cultural/language gap: if someone in italy switches on the m...

9V wrote: music with midi

This is not MIDI, nor is it music. It is merely a "collage" of musical notation.

Fail.

Re: the topic of topics: MIDI vs AUDIO ("what is music"?)

MIDI is the lazy man's tool. I do not consider anything written with MIDI to be music because I only use sine waves: http://upload.wikimedia.org/math/3/3/7/3376c7ab04fb0c65dbd38782389f09f2.png where: A, the amplitude, is the peak deviation of the function from its center position. ?, the angular fre...

Re: The Great Year

In hindsight, I suppose I presented no clear topic of discussion in my original post. The pyramids have no apparent connection to precession other than the theory they were built within specific alignments to the stars. I also see now I was perhaps naive to simply accept what was being presented in ...

Re: The Great Year

I am the same way. I simply mentioned the idea as one possibility. What are your thoughts on The Great Year? No real need to watch the video if you don't want. A simple Google search should suffice if you aren't aware of this concept. This is actually what I wanted to discuss in the first place, but...

Re: The Great Year

No worries scutheotaku. 9V's just been pressing my buttons. I am well aware he is Italian as he's made sure to mention it as often as possible. I was just trying to point out that he's not behaving any better than he claims Americans to be. I guess the best thing for me to do would be to ignore him,...

Re: The Great Year

You got something to say, then say it. I can't be arsed to click on every youtube video you post. What is that one, another Frank Zappa reference? Tenacious D? Use your own words and you might not come off as being such a pathetic waste of human life.

Re: The Great Year

Your opinion, and you are entitled to it. However, there is no more proof to your belief than mine. Do the pyramids need further explanation? Well, since we can't prove they were built by slaves to bury their king, how can we say for certain just what they were used for or how they were built? Woul...
