Re: Why does one clip start from the loop braces and one doesnt?
On the second clip you moved the loop brace but not the start point. The start point is the arrow on the left above the first warp marker.

Re: Post your most obscure Ableton Live knowledge
You can trigger video clips in sync with audio clips and scenes by MIDI mapping locators in the arrange page. It's a bit fiddly but seems to work OK.
It shouldn't be that obscure but as far as I can see it is.

Re: Post your most obscure Ableton Live knowledge
You can enable mapping macros to siblings in a rack by messing with the options.txt file.
I didn't discover this (it was Garyboozy in this thread, second post, which has the details) but it's worth repeating.

Re: re-recording stems
Instead of routing the audio to ext out, route it to the track you want to record to.

Did you collect all and save at any point? If so they should be in the project folder, in samples/waveforms.

Re: Do I Meet The Educational Requirements?
They normally reply pretty fast. Of course it's now Friday so you might not hear before Monday. The eligibility page says anyone in full time education from primary school up to advanced student so I would say yes. bear in mind though I'm not an official Ableton guy. If so you'll need to provide so...

Re: Tutorials - written or video?
Written, please!
Video tutorials are so slow. It takes 10 minutes to say something that can be put in a paragraph of text and maybe a couple of images and read in 30 seconds. I would be happy never to sit through a video tutorial again.

Which plug in? Vinyl Distortion runs all the time regardless of whether a clip has been launched or not.

More than one MIDI track visible in the MIDI window, maybe using different colours for different tracks. Would make harmonising parts so much easier.
It's the one thing about other DAWs I really miss when I'm writing.

Re: Simpler note harmony
AFAIK it just maps the sample to C3 whatever the actual note is, although you can use the detune function to correct that. Same with Sampler, although you can change the root note it doesn't recognise it automatically. It would be a nice thing to introduce.

Re: Retrigger long sustained notes on playback
There isn't a way in MIDI, because of the way MIDI signals work. If you miss the note on, the note won't trigger.
Freezing should do it though and you can always reverse it.

Re: Digital Audio converter?
I use one of these http://www.lindy.co.uk/analogue-stereo-to-spdif-digital-audio-converter/70409.html as I need more analogue inputs live than my interface will give me. Be aware though that a lot of these little ADCs are designed for video and run at 48KHz sample rate so you'll need to set your ses...
