I like Live GUI as it is. In fact, that's the main reason I choosed that DAW - immediatelly knew what's going on.
One thing I'm missing is the possibility to have open many VST windows from many different track at once. The same is true about effect chains, to easily compare two tracks for example.

Re: how many control surface slots would you need?
Let's think: - Push as universal utility - Midi keyboard with lots of knobs - the more, the better. Optionally just knob box if Push turns out sufficient as a keyboard. - Uhm, audio mixer / interface to manage many inputs and outputs? - CDJs? - Something wireless for live performance? Tablet or fanc...

Re: stoping a drum clip half way through without a pop sound
It has nothing to do with sample rate, it's just discontinuity. You need to end your sample at signal level of 0. Simpler has option to warp sample length to closest zero crossing, for example.

Re: One shot fx, risers, transitions etc
I start with key ideas of the track - what I imagined and what I want to do. Then make the rest to get proper trance structure with all the necessary instruments, layers and flow. I add FX and risers at the very end just where they are missing, to keep interest and fill the track with movement. Of c...

Re: How often do you change your workflow?
I don't have fixed workflow. Always try to learn new things and improve the old ones. And hey, it's a good way to improve your skills! Maybe someone with many-years experience, who produces new remix every week can give an insight about workflows. I'm still learning. Recently a friend showed me TOTA...

Re: Uplifting Trance
Promising. Very enjoyable and trancy. Pretty much where I've been over a year ago -> poor mixdown and mastering, screwed on many levels .
Also too little details and background FX to be interesting.
But these all can be improved. You're on a good way.

Re: Mid/side effect rack
Making one isn't difficult once you know how to.
The point is, this rack is so basic and important it should be featured in default pack, IMO.

Mid/side effect rack
An effect rack in the default pack that contains two chains:
- One with utility set to 0% width (mid)
- One with utility set to 200% width (side)
All named properly.

[psy? trance] Ocean Star Empire - Woven Drops (Warmonger Rem
Can't hurt to post it here as well.
This is my entry for contest announced by Ocean Star Empire. Original was goa trance, but I ended somewhere between many genres.

Re: quality loss when rendering
Hello, I encountered the problem again. Simply put, mix rendered at 88200 Hz sounds worse than rendered at 44100, even though it should not. Actually, I would expect and have got better results with higher quality in the past. Sounds misses a lot of details and definitions at higher frequencies. My ...
