What are you having difficulty with?
I find the markers and navigation reasonably good and generally don't struggle or experience unexpected behavior. I've assigned keys to them:
[ prev marker
] next marker
| insert marker
And have learned the playback behavior pretty easily.

Re: which new midi keyboard?
Just chiming in to agree with others here… Akai is heavier, sturdier, but the keyboard is less expressive and you have no fancy LCDs and lights. Novation is more expressive, but more fragile, and Automap itself is damn near inscrutable. I don't know how they screwed that up so badly from a UI point ...

Would love production-related feedback on this
https://soundcloud.com/soawesome/dream-it I've been using headphones to produce, and as I haven't been making much music recently, am re-training my ears in general. I have trouble knowing whether I'm overcompressing parts of the music, or hitting the right levels in mixing, etc. etc. Feedback very ...

Re: Deciding on a Plugin
I personally think that aside from Operator, Suite's synths are not that great. Operator is quite good. Zebra can be a bit difficult to wrap your head around, but if you want to get deep into soft-modular subtractive synthesis, it's incredibly flexible and will provide you with hundreds of hours of ...

Re: Hooking up my 4 channel numark M6 to my Motu Ultralite
OK, I misunderstood what you were trying to do. You want just one channel in Ableton to be OUTPUT to your mixer? Not all that different than above… in this case you want to set up one of the Motu's "extra" outputs, rather than the main outs. For instance: ===Cables=== Motu 3&4 Output >...

Re: Hooking up my 4 channel numark M6 to my Motu Ultralite
It's all in the Ableton preferences, audio setup. But first, you better plug those cables in with the right adapters etc. What exactly is the problem you're having? Without that info, here's a stab at something that may be helpful… Ableton needs to be set up so your Ultralite is the input device. (T...

Re: Live 9 no more can't be synced to midi tempo you've played?!
I'm really curious now about live-adjusting the tempo of a set, in "real-time." (In Live 8 and earlier, of course.) Would one of you who sync tempo this way be willing to describe how/why you do this? I'm very intrigued!

Re: Live 9 Pricing
It's hard to complain about the pricing. Ableton have added a large number of profound improvements. Just the browser and midi editor improvements would make the upgrade worth it, but they've added many more than that - EQ spectrum and pole listening, convert audio to midi, M4L, record automation i...

Re: Live 9 Pricing
Ableton is not going to "go out of business." That's not the point. I have given them plenty of money, and I think they've built a really cool product. I just don't like the way they handled this pricing, or loyal customers. As someone else pointed out, a few new features—which is all it i...

Re: Live 9 Pricing
^ exactly. it's not like this is the be all end all blowout sale for Ableton. they have sales from time to time throughout the year(s). hyper-focusing on this particular one and it's timing and making it all some personal slight is not realistic in terms of the business/consumer model. It is more e...

i hafta say the long awaited "special offer" for Suite 8 + M4L owners was a let down. the email made me think that there would be an extra USD100 discount from the already advertised price, but, no the difference is only about USD35. god only knows why they strung that out for so long... ...
