Re: Live 9 Pricing
i hafta say the long awaited "special offer" for Suite 8 + M4L owners was a let down. the email made me think that there would be an extra USD100 discount from the already advertised price, but, no the difference is only about USD35. god only knows why they strung that out for so long... ...

I'm still baffled by the pricing. $199 upgrade for a Suite+M4L owner.

Re: how to pluck?
I'm an amateur at synthesis, but here's a quick attempt. I would call it a pluck sound. Saw wave based. As it progresses towards the beat drop, its decay is lengthened or sustain level raised (and what sounds like a LP filter opened up to higher frequency and resonance increased, possibly some other...

Re: Rearranging sampled speech to form new sentences
I think what's missing here is that OP asked about automatic slicing at words, and naming those slices automatically. I know there is software out there that can do this (or at least guess reasonably well, as my phone does it when I dictate text messages to it), but I'm not sure I've ever encountere...

OP: What is the "live device box" you are referring to? (Just curious.)

Open the folder to reveal an instrument rack or device, then drag *that* to the area indicated.
Also, the manual is excellent.

Re: Live 9 Convert To Midi From Audio Is Hopelessly Inaccurate?
we can hardly even get a phrase perfectly translated from english to <insert language here> on the web. Just to be fair, that is a *much* harder problem, in general, than converting audio (as in fairly straightforward melodies, like those which are hummed, played on a piano or horn, etc., and harmo...

Re: Automation Duplication in Ableton
Check that the automation is not locked. (There is a button with a padlock icon in the top right of the arrangement view; if it's orange, that may be your problem.)

What genre is this perhaps similar to?
I just did a track and I'm kind of curious about similar-sounding stuff you may have heard? It's fairly uptempo, 132bpm, not 4-on-the-floor. As I am somewhat undereducated about the rapidly flowering genres of electronic music, pointers to similar music would be greatly appreciated! https://soundclo...

Like it. Great blend of SERIOUS SOUNDS and humour. The drum break at 4:10 or so was a nice touch.

Re: Something fresh - Work in Progress
Nice work, I'm impressed by the evolution. (is the most recent track really from the first one you posted?)
There is a really pleasant cohesion in the processing of all the sounds in the last bit of the track. The same kinds of soft edges, even with the gating effects, etc. Nice work!

Love the most recent one; would like to hear it evolve a little more.
Also, nice job with the Lone resampling
