Backward compatibility?
Quick question - is there anyway to export a set so that its compatible with older versions of live? I use 8 but collaborate with someone who uses live 7... other that exporting individual tracks/midi files?

Re: Video with Ableton Live
oh, and for the record - i reckon this is why video can't be used in the session view... If you've ever worked with jitter you'll know what i mean - there's a simple quicktime movie player (i can't remember what it was called and my trail's run out) which accesses the same quicktime api that live us...

Re: Video with Ableton Live
Sometimes i think this forum is just a massive source of misinformation... Ableton Live doesn't actually deal with video... All it does is tell quicktime what timing information and quicktime deals with the video. When you export the video, all it does is render the audio and then hands that ...

Dom,
Any chance of a similar video for the prodigy rig? I would love to see how that whole stack of gear fits together...

Re: I want stability..
I'm so tired of reading posts like this... I own 8 Suite, and let me tell you: it crashed randomly constantly. I'd be minding my own business, try to copy a clip, crash. Try to drag in an instance of compressor, crash. Try to save, crash. Open a new project, crash. It was honestly ridiculous. The 8....

Re: Control clips with Roland SP-555
yeah - basically all you can do with it is use the 3 knobs as midi controllers and the pads to send midi notes... if you want to go a bit more advanced you could have midi clips in live triggering samples on the sampler and sending it midi clock and then use it's on board effects (or use it as a sou...

Re: Control clips with Roland SP-555
you can do it, but as far as i know you can't get feedback from the lights - they only work for built in samples... ie you can't control the lights by standard midi messages (and i've never been able to find out about using sysex messages like people do with padkontrols)

Re: Cutout Collective EP
I mixed the project with an engineer who only worked in cubase... there would've been no difference working with ableton (i remember sitting thinking - i could've done that a lot easier in ableton, many times....) but we wanted to get a new set of ears on the project so it made sense to work with hi...

Re: Apreggiator
no one seems to have mentioned this yet - you can use live's session view as an arpeggiator on steroids... program a sequence into a midi clip, then go into midi map mode and select the clip, then hold down the lowest note on your midi keyboard, followed by the highest (while still holding the lowes...

Re: * Is there a way to do this ? *
yes - just route the tracks you don't want effected straight to your soundcard rather than via the master... ie in the output selection select ext out/ 1/2 (or whichever outputs you are using for your master out)). The only downside is that if you change the master volume it won't affect those track...
