dithering is to be added only in case of ready-to-publish renders. It is widely known that samples and loops rendered for further production purposes are definitely to be done without dithering.
AFAIR Ableton manual suggest to render those (i.e. samples/loops for further production) in 32bit btw.

Re: changing tempo?
You may change individual tempo of the clip, it's straightly dependent on warping… of course it works the opposite way - as the clip tempo is set to warp the clip to the master tempo, but still, there's no problem with changing the clip tempo to force the clip to be played in actual 60 bpm. all You ...

Re: Working on multiple projects at a time vs. just one?
And vice versa, you find you have two many ideas for one track so you split it into two. I don't remember to do it ever. On the other hand, using unfinished tracks in liveset is my on-a-daily-basis habit. Also it helps to construct an track orders in albums I'm working on; but again - the mixing pr...

Re: How long do you spend on various parts of a tune?
Bhehehe - my official record is 12 years of working, and still just a 1bar loop.
The baby is so special, that I'm not able to anything that makes sense, and as long as the loop plays itself, it is just invincible, but how possibly could i publish a 1 bar loop anyway?

Re: Sending Midi to external instruments using Maschine as VST.
Let me clear what You've written: midi track w/ Maschine (call it MIDI track 1) two midi tracks routed to get the midi via channels and send to external synths (call it MIDI tracks 2 & 3) right? First of all: 1. check the routing for INs in tracks 2 & 3 (are there midi channels set to the ri...

Re: About to make a 9 beta video, any thing you want covered?
Cosm, I'd suggest showing the differences between L9 and L8. Anyone interested in both may get his/her hands on the L8 w/o buying it. And showing it would help many users to get to get what is all about L9. I think that starting the project in L8 and then, at some point, showing how it's finished w/...

Re: Learning to DJ in Ableton vs Traktor
yup. definitely Traktor is a lot more intuitive platform dedicated to those who are into an oldschool method of mixing: You've got Your decks, few simple effects, and well designed library view. If You want to make a mix on the fly, then just start it drag files on the fly and mix. On the other hand...

Re: Working on multiple projects at a time vs. just one?
TBH I've got a serious problem with this - i.e. I'm working on every aspect of the track almost at the same time. It's kinda chaotic, but - I'd rather look at it as cleaning the mess, that's created; You know this kind of work: like house constructions: when it's just built, someone has got to clean...

Re: Working on multiple projects at a time vs. just one?
I've got about 250 or so unfinished tracks sitting in my Live 8 folder but one thing I do every so often is to spend a day or two just rendering them out to audio, however much there is. It might be just 16 bars, it might be a 10 minute unedited 'performance'. Then I listen to them whilst doing oth...

Re: Working on multiple projects at a time vs. just one?
The reason I like to create a library of audio and midi is I often work outside of live, e.g. reaktor in standalone, max/msp, energy XT etc, so having the audio and midi on disk means its easy to use them in other apps. I think the most important thing in both scenarios is ORGANISATION. Its always ...

Re: Working on multiple projects at a time vs. just one?
Interesting stuff. Are you constantly saving midi clips, loops and custom presets to your library throughout this process? I really need to get into that habit - I create stuff, but it just sits within my half-finished projects! there's no need to, and would introduce terrible mess in library - it'...

Re: Drums 128 - How to isolate best fits?
theoretically the drum rack is a rack, so there's no problem with extracting the slot instrument chain, also when there's a sampler/simpler in it You should be able to locate the loaded samples in library/browser or eventually in OS browser.

Re: Need some advice on how to get started / what to buy
I'm not into HW, but from my experience (keeping the HW setup as simple as possible), for the mobile setup the less is more, I'd even suggest a laptop + headphones only.
