Re: Another MacBook Thread (buying advice needed)
Best thing about the nn retina is you can install a second gap hard drive, so you can say have SSD as boot 512gb and a 1Tb in the DVD drive for samples and live sets etc.
Also the retina is wasted on Ableton at the moment

Re: New DAW getting built.
Too small SSD (256 are cheap 512 if you can afford it)
Power supply is cheap and too low powered don't skimp on this
Motherboard might be bit too much?
There's better cooling then the intel
Onboard sound who cares

Are you on Lion?
The Library doesn't show by default, so maybe spotlight doesn't search there by default
You can turn Library view on by typing the following in terminal:
chflags nohidden ~/Library/

Re: mac and ssd drives
Oh MBP Retina, forget what I wrote then, buy the biggest you can afford, i think you can only get 256Gb or 512Gb on the rMBP, if you can afford get 16Gb of RAM and 512Gb SSD because you can't swap them out at all after the rMBP has been made, they're all soldered to the motherboard. Re: mac and ssd drives
Newer drives have features built in similar to TRIM (I think trim is in the OS for garbage collection) newer drives now have allocations of part of the drive for this feature but perform it differently. (something along those lines). It depends on how much you want to put on the drive, so your quest...

Re: Live 8 gets 64bit support.
Seriously to all the people asking for 32bit bridge inside Ableton. EAT A  D I C K I think it's time for plugin manufacturers to move to 64bit, I hope Ableton and Logic force everyone to go 64bit only and force everyone to go 64bit Or die a slow and horrible developer death You look rather a...
