There's a simple explanation to that:
Only one application can make use of the ASIO drivers at a time.

Re: Ableton Live rapidly eats CPU
Actually this is pretty vague - and you're comparing audio to midi tracks.
I suggest looking up the performance test thread in the forum and comparing your results with similar machines shown in the thread.

Re: Ableton Clipping?
Hi AR,
Cue out and master out are independent - if you put a limiter on the master channel it does not affect the cue out at all.
If you now route the master and the cue out to the same physical output of your audio interface, it will distort and clip if both signals summed up exceed 0db.

Dom

Re: Playback engine and loops problem
It depends on the drivers of the Mbox what kind of buffersizes it accepts. For low latency you want to use something between 64 and 512 samples - but i remember the mbox 1 also only allowed 3 general buffer sizes for applications besides protools. You can check the low latency by just using your onb...

Never experienced that - besides if there's a selection span covering multiple tracks: in this case it jumps by the suize of the selection.

Re: Has anyone seen the controls on a track go orange?
Looks strange, indeed.
Can you reproduce this or was this a one time thing only?
Was it possible to save the set in this state? Then we would be interested to check out the set.

Dom

Strange, as this is a known problem and should work if you install and run it as admin.

Re: slow and glitchy...
Hi Sharpee, it sounds like you don't make use of simnple midi instruments but big racks. There are some contruction kits in there, that are pretty hard on the cpu - just take a look into those racks to see what's going on there. Another test would be just to try 4 Operators or load the performance t...

After editing the beginning, did you encode it to mp3 again or did you import it as a wave file in Live?

That's right, those versions are not legit. How to spot those scammers? Often this is pretty easy: a) In this case they were talking about download versions - but only http://www.ableton.com sells download versions, and besides second hand offers everyone else can just offer boxed versions. b) They ...

but a good CD/Vinyl plant or label will pretty surely reject a digitally clipped track. In a perfect audiophile world, maybe this would be the case. But due to the loudness wars it's often used as one of the tools in the whole weapon arsenal since digital media is around (note: not talking about vi...
