Re: Akai lkp 25 - anybody tried one yet?
The LPK25 feels the same to me, from memory, as the Korg MicroKontrol - if that is similar to the Legacy controller ?
I don't see how they could have made it any better and kept the form factor tbh, although I would have preferred a 37 Key version myself.

Re: [awi] crash with various plug ins
That's a shame :( I spent some time this morning on this issue finally and can reproduce it 100% - the key factor seems to be the Novation ReMote, I notice you have one too.. or perhaps control surface behaviour in general, with FabFilter plugins. With the ReMote enabled as a control surface I can c...

Re: [awi] crash with various plug ins
8.0.5 Final, OS X on an iMac 2.8Ghz C2d here. Still the same crashes for me too - Fabfilter plugins crashing randomly very frequently. Not reproducable really - i.e. the same steps won't casue two crashes in a row, but it can be something as simple as switching off an oscillator in Twin 2. Very disa...

Re: [awi] crash with various plug ins
Same problem here, random crashes in even the latest betas when tweaking the GUI on the following plugins -
FabFilter Twin 2
FabFilter Timeless 2
I've submitted crash logs too, looking forward to a fix

Re: USB/Firewire Audio Interface VS Motherboard Audio Question.
I tested this recently as I was pondering the purchase of a DAC to use on the built-in digital audio out of my 2.8Ghz C2D iMac rather than a USB or Firewire interface. I use all virtual instruments and samples like you, with a ReMote SL and this is what I found with a typical set - 57% CPU - Onboard...

Re: Compressors
Yep, I find Live's compressor decent on kick and snare, then I compress the bus with The Rocket or Sonalksis 315. Apparently 'The Glue' by Cytomic is very good too. I'm thinking of getting a Duende mini though.. but I wanna see how V3 pans out first. I figure that if i'm gonna have to get a dongle, ...

Can I do better than Audio Kontrol 1 in that price bracket ?
I currently have an M-Audio Firewire Solo and contrary to most folks experiences with M-Audio gear, never had an issue with it. I do need to upgrade though, to an interface that offers.. Independent control of Monitor and Headphone volume Ability to cue properly for DJ work Improved D/A audio qualit...

CPU Usage - Internal Audio vs Firewire Interface on Mac
I have no idea where I got this idea from, but I always assumed that the CPU utilisation on the internal audio in a Mac would be better, or at least the same as when using a Firewire interface.. not so, on mine at least. Results of Live 8 Performance Test on iMac Core2Duo 2.8 Ghz at 512 latency: 45%...

Re: basic Q about VST vs. AU
Almost - Logic can only (natively) use AU, but Live can use VST *and* AU, so you would only need to install the AU versions to have the plugins accessible in both hosts.. another consideration though - if you want seamless compatibility when sharing sets from your Mac with Live running on your Windo...
