Yep. And it's one of very few audio devices than can be bus-powered by the MBP. Using BootCamp and ASIO4ALL I can get as low as 1.5ms + 1.5ms latency. (It's higher with Echo's drivers and higher still under OS X.)

In OS X, at 256 samples, I get 8.84ms + 8.84ms (17.68ms overall). But I can work OK at 128 samples, which gives me 5.94ms + 5.94ms (11.88ms overall). Or you could even consider BootCamp, XP, and ASIO4ALL. Using these, I can get away with 64 samples, which gives me 1.45ms + 1.45ms (2.90ms overall). :D

It's also worth noting that it makes a difference whether the MBP itself is plugged into the mains or running off battery power. And that most devices require most bus power immediately after they're turned on. On mains power, my MBP happily provides bus power to my Echo Audiofire 2 and my external ...

Reckon I'll be up for some Beatboxing this weekend. Been talking to a mate about going to the evening gig, but wouldn't mind popping down during the day too.

Ooh, it's a London Users Group outing! ;)

At the risk of getting this thread back on topic (a strange idea on these forums, I know ;)) can anyone recommend a security device for small portable hard drives that don't have a Kensington slot?

A number of possibilities: Most dance music is in minor keys. So if it's dance music (or another genre that tends to be in minor keys) that's could be possible. Every minor has a relative major that is 3 semitones higher - e.g. A minor and C major. For the most part, it doesn't matter which of these...

Seems there's not even a keyboard shortcut for this. And you can't map it to a MIDI or key command either, so you have to keep moving the mouse to the Save button, to the next clip, to the Save button, to the next clip...

I went to a Live event at LSS. They seemed to know their stuff on Live. None of their course syllabuses appealed to me personally, but check them out and see if any of their courses cover what you're interested in. I wouldn't want to learn Live by a correspondence course. You might as well just read...

I'm on PC (edit: well, XP under Boot Camp - which amounts to the same thing) but get the opposite behaviour! Sometimes I consider that I've made a change but Live (6.0.10) doesn't. So I have to do something like copy and paste a clip over itself before it will let me save... Could it be a particular...

Re: Why Live?

I want a DAW that I can master and use for almost anything. Sequencing, tracking, remixing, post production, etc. Yeah, throw "live performance" into the mix and I'd really like that too... Unfortunately Live isn't it. Not yet anyway... The biggest issue for me is the lack of a profession...

Copyright laws vary from country to country. Where are you? But typically this is a breach of copyright, as you've copied something that someone else created, and it would therefore be at least technically illegal. However, whether or not anyone notices, pursues you for it, or can prove it is anothe...
