Yes it's possible. Just make sure to point (in Live's preferences) to the appropriate Max app version for each Live version.

Yes it is (backward compatible), unless you save a project in 9.2 containing the new Tuner device... simply because Tuner doesn't exist in 9.1.x

Yep, don't worry.
This is known Windows "bug" since Max 7 came out.
I can't remember the details but you can ask the Cycling74 support.

It just works as usual since the 1st day of M4L, which was using Max 5 at back then : As soon as a Max version is officially supported by Live, you don't need to own a full Max license to use it as your M4L editor. When Max 6 came out, Live was still v8. M4L users who didn't own a full Max license h...

Max7 needs this version, but installing it won't ruin your Max6. So go for it if you want to use/try Max7 as your M4L editor.
Anyway, here's the link to the correct Java version:

The new devices are in the Max7 application package.

I recommend you to copy and then paste the new devices from this folder to a folder in your user library (autotuna, bit player...).

It's in the audio effect folder.
You also do a search and type "tuner" in the browser.
