Re: Augmented/hybrid Control of Ableton....

Hey glad it worked out for you! While the rings on the Nocturn are lit, they don't change the lighting when I turn the knob or when I change the track on anything but the device controls (Because they work as "normal" instead Inc/dec). Didn't you mention that you had that working somehow? ...

Re: How Can I Process Drums to Get This Sound?

There's 2 kicks to start with. In particular they are most probably the same kick effected differently. Kick one is the boomy kick. It is the main reason why the sound is interesting. Everytime it plays, the rest of the track (but not the vocals) reduces in level. This is done by side-chaining speci...

Re: Augmented/hybrid Control of Ableton....

Oh yeah forgot to mention though that the main reason i like the STC workflow is you always know which encoder does what. As in i know without looking that encoder 1 will always be assigned to level. If i wanted to change the level of track 3 i select it with mouse or cursor and instinctively go for...

Re: Augmented/hybrid Control of Ableton....

Hmm - so if I understand you correctly, STC control the assignment of device focus ('blue hand') letting Push control the macros? I hear of some people using STC with push alright My guess is that the people who use STC and push use it for this reason....and please do correct me if i'm wrong (i may...

Also forgive me what is that 'square' icon :p I'm not on mac atm.
also when you say 'tutorial on application switcher' do you mean using 'command+tab' to switch applications?

Re: Navigate Finder quicker and more easily in OS X

Is this for navigating Abe's library? if so how do you find the workflow? I've been thinking about using finder for browsing the library for a while now. I'm still on 8 and still tend to use Abes browser and i find if i bookmark one of Abes assignable slots to a favourites type folder, it's pretty u...

Updated my setup with a track scroll and now completely mouseless. (well for mixing/tweaking anyway!) Awesome!!

Re: Augmented/hybrid Control of Ableton....

Short question: Can this be used together with the Launchpad (using the great Launchpad95 script) in a manner where I launch my clips in a 8x8 grid (so 8 tracks) with the Launchpad and the Nocturn controls the Volume, Pan, Sends 1-4, Mute, Solo as well as the frequency and Q of an EQ 8 (1 per track...

LETS MACRO THINGS.......

So I think this is important. We should build an online repository of Synths and Plugins already set up in rack format....(which are in case you didn't already notice really awesome when used with push!) I'm currently working my way through the waves plugins and a couple of synths. But even some of ...

Re: Taking Stock Ableton instruments and editing sound

My advice would be don't get overly bogged down in learning about sound design. Some of those Ableton synths are quite complex and the user interface can be a little finnicky. Stick to device presets....The hot swap button is key to changing presets (one of the icons on the top bar of the instrument...

Re: Augmented/hybrid Control of Ableton....

Precisely. I have Push and STC & racking all my instruments and controls adds tons of on-the-fly usability I completely agree. I think I'm gonna set up a page for racking standard plugins for push/nocturn/STC users. I'm currently working my way through all the waves ones, but an online reposito...

Re: Developing your 'sound' / everything I do sounds different!

If I put any restrictions on myself I start to lose joy in what I'm doing. but isn't that just a restriction? As in would you find NO joy if instead of having a hard disk full of multi gigabyte instruments, you only had a room of instruments? Now I'm not advocating that people go back to writing wi...
