Re: Audio Dropout on "first Kick" - Live9 MIDI and Audio!!!???
I had this, it turned out to be Live's auto fades. If you look in preferences record/warp/launch and find that "create fades on clip edges" is on, try turning it off. Even the very short fades that Live applies can affect drum transients in both MIDI and audio. If it is that you have a cho...

Re: Korg SQ-1 problem
This is normal with the SQ-1, for reasons best known to themselves Korg do not allow it to send and recieve MIDI at the same time via USB (including MIDI clock). No. It's not great. No. I have no idea why. I get around it by using a Volca Beats, which syncs with Ableton via MIDI in the normal way, t...

Create a MIDI track
Drag the audio you want to slice into the instrument window at the bottom

Re: LIVE 10.1 New Delay Sounds Different
I've noticed that it responds differently to automation. I have a 1/16 sync delay in a set I use for performance that occasionally switches to 1/8 with sync division controlled by the Max API object (which is itself automated). After upgrade the same settings produced 1/8 delays going to 1/4. Tweaki...

If it's on adaptive the grid settings will get finer as you zoom in. If you're on fixed grid they won't. So from your post I think you want to set it to fixed.

Re: Why No Send/Return Track Clips for Looping Automation?
Also you can use the Max API device to automate parameters in other tracks if you have Suite. So you can e.g. use a clip in a normal audio track to automate things in a return track. I agree it would be a lot easier if you could just have automation clips in return tracks but as with so many things ...

Re: Live 10.1
Just noticed there seems to be a top bar and waveform/MIDI part for each track on the arrange page again (like in 9 but self coloured). So pleased if this is right, it makes editing when not in automation mode so much easier.

Re: Slice to Sampler question
.asd files are Live's record of slice points, warp points etc. - not audio files at all. You need to keep them.

Re: Performing live with minimal latency(real instruments)
Try increasing to 96k 256ms or 512ms you might be surprised Yeah this can work. Latency is created when samples are delayed going through the system but most processing is clocked to sample rate (i.e. latency is a processing delay of a number of samples) so increasing the sample rate will reduce la...

Re: Performing live with minimal latency(real instruments)
Use input monitoring on the vocal track, make sure reduced latency when monitoring is on in the options menu, don't use any high latency plugins to process your vocals (especially if using a pitch corrector use use the version optimised for live use, there will usually be one e.g. Autotune has a fai...

I'm going to pitch in against the scissor tool. Logic with its multiple pointless toolbars does my head in. cmd+E or swipe drag does everything you need.
Did someone mention there is a Live 10.1 or something?

Re: LIVE 5 question about pdc
Yeah up to a couple of years ago Live's delay compensation was, shall we say, not amazing. They fixed it though (in that I don't notice it any more and the forum has been noticeably silent on the matter). Most of Live's native plugins (except Max devices) should process in less time than 1 sample so...

Re: Hardware synths that can be automated in ableton
You can do a fair bit on a mini with a MIDI-CV converter (Korg's SQ-1 will do the job as well as being a decent sequencer) and even by sending audio signal into the ESP section and using the env out to control other parameters, but not everything on the mini is automatable (i.e. not everything has a...

Re: Ableton forgetting output config when device not available
At the very least if we could turn on all the I/O at once rather than clicking on every single damn button.
Saffire + Octopre + MR-18 (lots of I/O because I like my analogue synths) and if I forget to turn one of them on or something before opening Live it's painful

Put it in user 1 mode then the keys will send note messages.
