Re: a little test re: sound-quality

Well just an educated guess here but... Low end energy consume much more power from your amplifier because of the larger wave lenght. I figure by analogy the same thing probably applies to digital audio files. So when you truncate bit depth it chops proportionally across the spectrum. Since low end...

Re: a little test re: sound-quality

[...I can hear differences. I know it's not supposed to be true...I know..theoretically impossible. But that's just a it...it's a theory...and I hear differences in these three files. Now whether they are different daws...different plug ins...different master mediums who knows? only Robert...lol De...

Re: All this about sound quality

bullshit.. its clearly coming from users experiancing such and from ableton that havent taken enough care to indicate the activation of realtime SR . Very slow reaktion time on reported audio engine bugs and so on.. Up to version 8.2 there was scenarios wher SR was on when it was supposed to be of.....

interesting paranoid fantasies you have there. Lured into a trap? what? 8O :? interesting paranoid fantasies you have there... But insulting a guy like 3phase most certainly gets some harsh comments back.. and than running to mummy and playing the badly insulted guy.. you can call that a trap.. But...

Any explanations? yes, I have an explanation, you are 3phase you were banned once, maybe chill on this stuff this time around? eh? Wasnt 3phase ban...

Re: a little test re: sound-quality

b: This file seems to be a bit as the odd man out. There seems to be a slight bump in the midrange causing the vox to sound...for the lack of a better word...slightly more forward in the mix. It's slightly harsher..not by much...but noticeable. Stereo spread is slightly better than A. The low end i...

Re: a little test re: sound-quality

I watched a video the other day where Jack White got a couple of blocks of wood, a pickup and a string and did this mad slide guitar on one string on this instrument he just built... it was awesome great.. but you know that jack white is known for his freaky and very valuable custom guitar collecti...

Re: a little test re: sound-quality

[ it seems like are living under the delusion that an audio engine and food is the same thing and produces the same results. i find that utterly fascinating. i also find your comparison to be incredibly flawed. it reminds me of the argument antipiracy lobbyists reaches out for: you wouldn't steal a...

Re: a little test re: sound-quality

Do I get a prize for correctly guessing that the difference would be bit depth without even listening to the files? though I did get a clue form Magik_10's reply. This actually comes as a great relief to me, because I had thought it was just my ageing ears that prevented me from hearing the differe...

Re: a little test re: sound-quality

I'm personally not interested in tests like this - far too many far better audio guys than me have done it ad nauseum but I would like to add this link where expensive wine has been proven to taste better: http://scienceblogs.com/cortex/2008/01/expensive_wine_tastes_better.php more food for thought...

Re: a little test re: sound-quality

i only can listen to the 3 files via laüptop speakers and ther i dont hear a differnce.. HAve read now that 2 are identical nad one is only 12 bit.. ok.. 12 bit with truncation or 12 bit with dithering? but anyway..i dont see the point here really.. What do you want to prove? that 12 bit files can s...

Re: ableton sound engine and new monolake album

Is it possible that daws like logic or protools dither their output to 24 bit while others just drive the DA with 32 bit float data? I am not sure about this, but since the noise floor of the best DA converters and the rest connected to the output of the converter is certainly higher than -144dB th...

Re: ableton sound engine and new monolake album

A summary of this thread: an anonymous 'friend' of mine basically says I am lying because it is not possible in general that a good sounding album has been produced entirely in Live. I explain that his assumptions are wrong, and give evidence for that. And now we are back to: Live sounds shit. Awes...
