I don't know how you work or where (clubs, studio...) but IMO stuff like this is nothing but practice, getting used to using your tools. Live can't do everything for you, sometimes the onerous is on the user to step it up, rather than Live, no new gear necessary. +1. It took me days of rehearsal an...

I have G-Force, but is there an option to capture video? That's what G-Force Standalone does. Not from what I can tell. Tell me how please. Oops... I meant G-Force Darkroom (I don't even think they do it any more). I had mixed luck with Darkroom, so I started using Standalone with Snapz Pro X http:...

This place is more Western than many places I've been to in the West! The biggest danger is driving. Although the roads are wide, smooth, and big trucks are banned and have their own roads, there are tons of huge SUVs, cars, and trucks, and they drive very fast and weave across lanes NASCAR-style. O...

Don't discount working here in the UAE. It's a great place to live with lots to do, with no sign of a recession (yet).

There is LOTS of work (especially construction, medical, educational), pay is tax-free, and gas is under 2 bucks a gallon.

Alcohol, however, IS expensive. That's a good thing, IMO.

Don't expect an automated solution to create dynamic and compelling video. You'll be disappointed.

I've been using this for three years: http://www.soundspectrum.com/g-force/ The commercial license cost varies on what you'll be using it for.

You'll find lots more info over at www.vjforums.com

MIDI>DMX does admittedly have its limitations. It requires sequencing skill and talent to make the best of it. I enjoy designing and creating the sequences, and 'playing' the video and lighting in Live. It gives me something to do while the music plays! And, unlike vaporware, MIDI>DMX is a real solu...

Sundays suck here in the UAE, as it's the first day of the work week. We call it Virtual Monday.

Friday's great, though... no work (Virtual Saturday)!

MIDI>DMX introduces a 125ms delay. It's minimal, and easy to compensate for by quantizing the lighting sequences and setting Live's track delay to -125ms. Some lighting fixtures, especially those with motors or incandescent lights, will have an inherent lag. These, too, can be compensated for with a...

For you guys PMing me wanting to do lighting now (rather than waiting for vaporware that may never materialize), I'll write a tutorial on how simple lighting is to do with no programming skills, no plug-ins, only a MIDI>DMX interface and Live.

I've got two 500GB versions. They're daisy-chained to the MBP FW800 port. They're super fast on FW800. I use Super Duper to keep them identical. They get hammered, and I've had no problems whatsoever. They will go to sleep if you leave them. There is a bit of code you can run to stop them sleeping. ...

Spent the day in Dubai yesterday. Fun place! Lots to see and do. The architecture is amazing. The Burj Dubai is now over 1km tall and will be 1.2km tall when finished, making it 40% taller than the currently tallest building in the world. It looks like a painting from a 1930s science fiction magazine.
