Re: Ableton's sampler altering sound of sample
Somewhat off-topic but I'd just like to note the interesting phenomenon of pitching down via increasing the original tempo of an audio clip with its warp mode set to repitch, and pitching down via sampler. Repitch preserves the fidelity much better.

Re: Warping help needed
Delete all of the warp markers and start over by hand. It seems tedious at first but you'll get the hang of it

Is aftertouch not so quick? Warped bass patches
So I've recently become interested in making more complex, "warping" bass patches seemingly unachievable with regular ADSR-based analog synthesis. My first experiment was to create a patch in Zebra2 with aftertouch affecting sustain level and filter cutoff, that way I can "play" ...

Re: Layering Kick Drum discussion
there's probably a 1000 ways to do this... but I just went after and found a "phat" kick the other day, here's how; i played the first 15 seconds of a house record that belongs to my neighbor... as usual, the album started with random noise or vocal followed by boom tsk boom tsk......

Re: DRUM RACK VS INDIVIDUAL AUDIO SAMPLES
I never have an entire kit in a drum rack or battery. I used to do this when drum racks first came out, but I find it's just too much information in one place, and it's a bit too abstract in terms of context. It's very easy to get 'lost' in the midi editor, and lose track of where things fit in the...

Re: DRUM RACK VS INDIVIDUAL AUDIO SAMPLES
I always found using the samples directly works better for me, one less layer of abstraction in the writing process. And I generally dislike using midi and prefer to work with audio, but that's just me. You know simpler can be set up to re-produce the audio sample perfectly? ie good enough to phase...

Re: DRUM RACK VS INDIVIDUAL AUDIO SAMPLES
One major advantage of working directly with audio is fidelity in relation to tuning. Stretching audio in repitch mode to tune in the same manner as Simpler/Sampler is waaaay cleaner and rid of artifacts, especially when pitching far, far down. Pitching far down in Simpler/Sampler usually results in...

Shameless compression questions
So! I feel like I've taken a very odd route around learning production. I used to be working almost exclusively with Samplers. I used to kinda try to do compression the ADSR and gain, when I needed it as an effect almost. Now I'm getting much more into working directly with audio clips. I just want ...

Re: Audio clips and concerns with timing + tail ends
Thanks for the reply man. If only Live would allow Sampler to reference an audio clip along with any changes you do to it outside. Sampler + the warp modes + unlimited envelope breakpoints would be amazing. Looks like Kontakt can do that. I should look into Kontakt. I have a feeling the time stretch...

Re: Pitch bend via repitch?
Yea I figured using Sampler would be the best option. I'm cool with that. I suppose I'll do my "root note" pitching in audio clips via repitch+seg. tempo, and then transfer that flattened audio into a sampler to do a pitch envelope. It's just I've recently noticed quite a difference in sou...

Pitch bend via repitch?
Looks like the answer is going to be "automate the tempo" but I was curious if anyone knew any way to automate the segment bpm of a clip in the repitch warp mode. I want to do pitch bends via the repitch warp mode but on a per-clip basis and not using the global tempo as that affects all t...
