Re: Better than Bitwig?

That is an interesting perspective and one I agree with to a certain extent. Bitwig is a bit like a jack of all trades, but master of none right now. Of course, still relatively new, but all the more reason to give it another year.

Re: Better than Bitwig?

Thank you all for your objective answers. The reason I asked in this forum is who knows Ableton better than you guys! I ran across this video (somewhat old) that is also pretty insightful: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yg556_RCvxk Interestingly, I find the browser in Ableton faster to use than Bit...

Better than Bitwig?

Hi all, I'm looking to purchase either Ableton Live or Bitwig, but am a bit stuck on which one. I have the demos of both, but it'll take a long time to go deep into both. I like the idea generation flow of both. I'm finding I'm leaning towards Bitwig, but before I do, I wanted to come ask the expert...

Re: Trade Maschine for Ableton?

You can still buy Maschine expansions - they have WAVs for use and are organized into folders too (kicks, claps, etc.).

Re: Trade Maschine for Ableton?

I honestly believe that if you completely give up Maschine, you will miss certain aspects of it. My advice, keep Maschine and add Live. I really don't understand why it has to be either or. Just use both. I guess I'm wondering what that would be and what Push 2 + Ableton would cover. I'm having a h...

beats me wrote:As far as drum sample browsing and available sounds I think you are going to be hard pressed trying to beat Maschine, but I agree it falls short as a complete DAW while also not integrating easily within a fuller featured DAW.
How's Push 2 for that?

Trade Maschine for Ableton?

Hi all, I am currently a Maschine MK2 owner, but am trying out Ableton (I've owned it in the past as well). Recently, I've begun to realize and get frustrated with my workflow in Maschine, when compared to Live. Specifically, I think Maschine is best for me as an idea generation tool - outside of a ...

Re: Push 2 vs Maschine Studio

What about compared to Maschine 2? I've been watching the Push 2 videos Ableton has and it has some pretty nice workflow for a number of things. The biggest gap (for me) for Push 1 was the browse ability in terms of loading in samples / sounds, especially from your own library - Maschine is quite go...

Re: Keyboard shortcut to load into drum rack?

Ah nice. Turns out I didn't need to load a Simpler into the drum rack after all. My flow is now: load a drum rack, select the first cell, hit Q, hit CMD+F, type in "kick", find a sample, hit ENTER, then hit the next key on my MIDI keyboard, and repeat. It's great - I don't think there is another DAW...

Re: Keyboard shortcut to load into drum rack?

Ah, so you would suggest having a drum rack with a bunch of empty Simpler's pre-loaded into the slots and then choose the slots via a MIDI keyboard, hit Q to enable hotswap, and then browse the samples? That sounds like a good idea - I'll try it! Thanks!!

Re: Keyboard shortcut to load into drum rack?

Thanks - yes, I know about that. But I'm more looking for a way to load samples into the drum rack via a keyboard shortcut vs. the mouse.

Keyboard shortcut to load into drum rack?

Hi all, Wondering if there is a way to load a sample from the browser into a specific cell in a drum rack without using the mouse? I can select the cells with my MIDI controller, browse using the my computer keyboard, but when I find a sample, I seem to have to use the mouse to drag it into the sele...

Contemplating Using Live For Songwriting

Hi all, I have recently been contemplating getting Live as a sketchpad for songwriting (traditional indie pop / country mainly). I tend to use Logic and Pro Tools for everything at the moment, but I've tried Live briefly as a sketching tool and I like some of the aspects (for example, load a drum ki...

Re: The Great BitWig Migration

Just watched all the Bitwig videos - seems pretty full-featured? Can't see what it is missing from Live. Why would anybody who knows about it buy Live before March 26th?

Re: A lot of pros have jumped to Ableton from Logic

Well, Pro Tools and Ableton were never in competition with each other - they serve very different purposes. Nobody expects Ableton to replace PT (or vice versa). And Daniel James doesn't use Sibelius or Finale. And of course there are still many Logic users, but it is interesting to see a number of ...
