How to auto-deleting 'Missing Samples' from your Project
This one's always frustrated me. How can you automatically locate and delete the missing samples from a project? Sometimes I open up an old file that reference some crappy drum sample that it never used, and that I later deleted from my HD, and now I'm forced to dig through my channels to manually l...

Re: How's Windows 7 these days?...Thinking of switching from OSX
awesome tips guys. D-Track whats you experiences been with OSX86? I have the usual cold feet about it. Does the software update as it would on any other system? Like what are the trade-offs other than piecing together the system and a somewhat tricky install?
Thanks again everyone,
J

How's Windows 7 these days?...Thinking of switching from OSX
Thinking of switching from OSX to Windows 7. I'm going to load up a copy on Bootcamp to test it out, but thought I'd ask you guys your experience with the OS so far. Is it stable? Does it recognize all music plug-ins, USB drivers, etc. as well as OSX? Is it speedy, useable, etc. Overall, I've been d...

BY FAR THE BEST GUIDE I'VE EVER READ FOR ELECTRONIC MUSIC PRODUCTION.
Sorry had to shout it, cause I'm not joking, wish-wish-wish I had stumbled across this years ago. Its everything you'd wish computer music magazine would offer, all in a single guide.

Re: latest macbook pro ??
I have the unibody, 2.4ghz, 2ghz ram, 500gb 7200 hd... and I'm considering an upgrade to a Mac Pro... The culprits are cpu hungry plug-ins. Live runs like a dream, but to power a large project with tons of plugs and without freezing tracks is not feasible. BUT, if you can get over freezing tracks, i...

Re: Apple iPad. Meh.
I think as well, integrating as a control surface seems to be the most feasible. I would love to draw my automation by finger, and trigger clips a la lemur while dj'ing.

Re: JUSTICE GENESIS TRICKS
My feeling is these guys just put a lot of elbow grease into their work. For the drums they have used a sidechain gating or compression effect (look it up if you haven't), set to the master channel, so that when these particular drum hits happen, the whole track ducks/cuts out. Otherwise they could ...

Video DJ'ing with Live - What's your thoughts?
I remember looking into this about 2 years ago and seeing no 'dominant' solution that integrates with Live. What's your guys' thoughts on Video DJ'ing overall? Is there solid solutions that exist? And finally, now that Ableton had made the leap to integrating Serato/timecode DJ'ing - Do you think th...

Anyone using Virus TI as an effects unit for other audio?
Tried this last night with incredible results!!! Really excited for this... but there were some issues. When my Buffer Size is low I hear clicks and pops, etc. with the Virus processed signal. Everything else playing is fine. To get rid of these I have to crank up the buffer size introducing tons of...

Assignable LFO's to Parameters? (Other than Max 4 Live)
Other than Max 4 Live, is there anything out there that does this?
The idea is to be able to have an 'LFO' modulate an assigned parameter. Technically this could be done through drawing the in automation itself, just would be a huge pain.
Any ideas?

Re: Has anyone made an all-purpose assignable LFO?
This is definitely a top feature of mine I'm looking for. But yowza, I'd hate for this to be only available via Max 4 Live. It seems so basic at face value, but I guess as usual, easier said than done.

Re: My cpu is at 9% and Live 8 stalling
Yup, the problem popped up again, so grabbed the beta. Problem solved. Also, if your CPU is abnormally high when you set a lower Sample Buffer, exit it out and boot up ableton, suddenly its like you got an extra gig ram! Another bug to fix, but its getting there. Ableton's been running like a dream ...

Re: My cpu is at 9% and Live 8 stalling
Hey I was having a similar issue. Is it for a specific song or all songs? I had this issue with one song so I went through all my tracks in that song and deleted each one separately to see if one in particular was causing the issue. It turned out to be this random drum rack channel. Deleted, and pro...
